.info has been free for a while.

Yes, but just looking at the auctions, more people prefer .info
I don't know why :-/

I think .org is more valuable than .info but people prefer .info more than .org.

it really depends on the domain.
as a general rule, .org gets more traffic. And with some names, .org gives a sense of a much more 'legit' site, and it works for almost anything. good .info keywords are also up there, but their perceived value has decreased heavily since the free (or cheap) promo, and this is continuing (although NOT for strong keywords).
they both have their place, and for an information site, its hard to beat .info
they are both good players in the market, but generally .org is more expensive in the aftermarket

yes, seeker is absolutely correct. both have its own targetted scenario. As if its on something general scenario, info is preferrable than .org, at the same time, for some other scenario .org is preferable, like non profit organisation and all..

:)

.info is usually more popular and cheaper than .org. .info is suitable for information oriented sites while .org is usually for organizations.

.info can be developed into anything.

while org's are for organizations. (Means People believe that they are for organizations)

I usually prefer .orgs over .info, but it somtimes depends on the domain name.

same with me ... i prefer .orgs over .infos... i guess the fact that .info is based on a dictionary word (or a slang / abbreviation) and has a meaning somehow reduces the attractiveness of the tld for me...... the same would be true for .travel or .jobs .... I feel that any TLD that does not mimic the characteristics of the most commonly used TLD .. the dotcom will not be accepted readily by the general crowd....... that's one of the reasons .biz is a bummer, but .co.uk is a hit.

I as well prefer .org over .info in most applications. .org's are good if you want to create a site that appears to be non-profit.

I'd pick a .info over a .org for a commercial site any day.

As we all agreed in this thread, it depends on the purpose of your web or contents with a certain domain.

org: organization - proper for non profit website

info: information - could be profit or non profit website offering information

I personally prefer org domain to info because I think org domain is still known more than info domain.

in most cases .info is good because informatoin, and i personallly like .info because they are cheap and popular now :)

.org less dev. potential due to the fact organization
