question Opinion Would You Have Sold an Atom Appaised $24,000 Domain for $750 on Ebay? Elmore.Ai

I finally sold for $750 the great Elmore.Ai which I hand regd for $149 and is appraised by Atom at $24,000 because after 2 years with zero offers & a $149 renewal coming in April, I just said something is better than nothing. Would you have given up a $24,000 appraised domain at such a relatively low price? Truth be told that's the highest I've ever made on a domain (most of my sales are $400 each for hand registered domains).

I'd be happy with that. Congratulations on your sale ๐Ÿ‘.

I think you did fine. Automated appraisals can be very optimistic, and turning a $149 hand-reg into $750 after no offers for two years is still a solid return. Congrats!

I'll just say that I'm glad Elmore is finally free. Congrats to others as well.

Thanks I probably would have turned him down if I wasn't do a $149 renewal in a month. That was my deciding factor: Take $750 or turn it down and then pay $149 to renew,

That's one of the factors that make certain extensions tough for investment.

I don't think the buyer pool is that large really, which limits the upside.

The carrying costs of .AI make it unappealing in my view, outside top tier generics.

I would have been fine selling it.

When I first registered this .AI, I thought .Ai's with legit first names were in high demand, so I went ahead and registered this one for $149. I didn't think I'd have to wait 2 years to get one legit, albeit lowball offer. I since have registered 4 other .Ai's one of which everyone on this site said was terrible, Jangly.ai, and to cancel the purchase (Which was not allowed at the time). I thought everyone knew the term Jangly as it's the guitar sound and music REM & the Byrds played. Well Namepros was right and I was wrong. Bottom line is $149 in my opinion is way too much to Hand Regster a domain and one learns by mistakes. I still regretfully have 3 other AI's though they have almost 2 years registration left: YRN.Ai, PreDestination.Ai, Trude.Ai, non of which have gotten offers, despite the fact Atom has appraised them from $24,000 - $30,000 each. It's bizarre that I've sold as many domains on Ebay (2) as I've done via Spaceship (2). Unless I have one monster sale which I haven't had ever, I will not spend another $149 to hand register an .AI.

Not sure of the buyer pool but you're right about the carrying costs. Unless I somehow make a big sale whch I've never done ($750 is my record), I will not register an .Ai again because of the costs. IF renewal costs would have only been $20 I would have turned down the $750 but renewal costs of $149 was the breaking point.

Congrats on the sale, I would've sold it for that price too. Elmore isn't a popular first or last name.

It was a first name though. I don't think any first name .Ai ever sold below $10,000 including Artis.ai! That is how my thinking works. Of course I got all of $750 for mine, lol.

Congrats on your Elmore.Ai sale... I would have let it go for $750 as well, for similar reasons others already mentioned.

By the way, Welcome back... Good to see you around again :)

I actually know it as a last name and not the first (Len Elmore).

Did you ever contact the owner of ElmoreAi .com?

Ah a basketball fan! Elmore James musician. Elmore Smith NBA Center. I erroneously thought a name that is both a first & last name would have more value. I was wrong, lol!

LOL Yeah I did and I'm guessing as it happened within a week after, so I don't think it was a coincidence, some inarticulate, apparently kid after a string of his incoherant emails in my opinion, offered me $99 and the genius didn't understand it costs $149 to just register. I call these people timewasters.

Apparently, the owner of ElmoreAi did not communicate back, and would rather have his ElmoreAi.com than Elmore.Ai!

I scanned the top 1000 US surnames for reference, and (39) are available to hand register.

There are several ones available for $1,000 or less.

Ones like -

McDaniel.ai - $750
Trevino.ai - $750
Sexton.ai - $750
Odom.ai - $750
Burch.ai - $750
Pollard.ai - $750

and more.

I suspect first names would show the same thing.

Many decent name combos sell for lower prices. People just don't notice them as the outliers stand out.
