One.com charged me CAD 91.99 to renew a domain they no longer managed.

I transferred FirstPay.io out weeks before renewal. They still invoiced and charged my PayPal anyway.

This isn’t bad support — it’s broken billing logic.

A registrar that can’t detect when a domain is gone cannot be trusted with investor portfolios.

Now I’m wasting time chasing a refund for a mistake that never should have happened.

Avoid if you value clean billing and basic competence.

Sorry man, avoid registrars and marketplaces that are not active on Namepros.

Why wait for a refund? You can initiate a chargeback dispute through pp or your bank.

Sue them for $1,000,000 for illegal transaction.

One.com operates in a STRANGE way.

They typically send you an invoice for the renewal 60 days before the domain name is set to expire.

That invoice will remain ACTIVE within your account unless you send them an email explicitly telling them to CANCEL it.

It doesn't matter if you transfer the domain name, they'd proceed to CHARGE you for the domain name because you still have a PENDING invoice with them.

Basically, the renewal is NOT tied to the domain name but to their INVOICE.

If you wish to transfer after they'd already issued their invoice, you must tell them to CANCEL their invoice.

It's a weird way to operate.
But that's their way.

I had issues with them as well, transferred an .io from DreamHost. They said that DH did not disable the privacy and I have to pay them $30 to disable it. That means I cannot manage the domain as any emails go to DH unless One.com approve the change after I pay them 30 bucks. Ridiculous. I will just let the domain expire if it does not sell till expiration.

I transferred just one, i own 2 .io.

I have never transferred an .io before, don't know if you have to contact your registrar before about that. maybe someone with experience in .io transfers could enlighten us.. or is it a One.com thing?

Be careful with the expiration dates, they are not what you think or at least that's what happened to me. You must cancel the domains as soon as you transfer to them from the control panel. Then, they don't renew them or send you anything. Hopefully I have transferred 40 names away without any issues..
