Once the LLLL.com's are gone, what happens to the LLL.com prices?

Do you guys feel that once the LLLL.com's are gone there will be a bigger sense of "rarity" with the LLL.com's and raise the price?

Personally I think they will jump in value much like what happened to the LL.com's.

Of course prices will increase, but it is a matter of degree. In particular, I think there will be a sharp rise, then it will settle down into a steady band for most combinations, while premium names will continue to grow rapidly.

i think they will fall, because there are then more domains of aftermarkt to buy

I think the rapid adoption of cellular internet technologies soon to come will dramatically increase the demand for short .coms. IMO, not inconceivable to see bad LLL.coms averaging 20k per within a few years.

Well, sure but that's axiomatic. The real issue here is elasticity of demand: i.e., what sort of prices will clear those transactions. A lot of these LLLL.com are being picked up by investors who will hold for end-users or higher prices, so even if there are lots of flips and drops, investors hold up the market.

Although there is a correlation between LLLL.com prices and LLL.com prices - the issue here is demand vs supply. As more and more industries find it neccessary / important to be online and be a part of this global community, it will drive prices for these rare domains through the roof.

Does regging the last LLLL.com drive the prices for LLL's? Not really. It will have a small impact, but it wont change the demand and it wont change the supply. I think the more LLL.com's become developed, the higher in value the remaining ones will go. If you study the market, and current sales trends, you'll notice that LLL.com's have been picking up quite a bit of steam lately.

Infact, you'll be hard pressed to find one for less than 4.5k

There sure is a lot of hype surrounding LLLL.coms.

It will be a long time before crappy ones like ZQBE.COM are worth anything! That one is free to register by the way. :hehe:

Don't agree. The value is in the four letters. Doesn't matter how bad the acronym is a four-letter name of any description is still beautifully short and businesses will eventually pay for short names. It's easy to brand something for a reasonable amount of money and effort ... but try going out and buying a meaningful short dot com name at a reasonable price - you can't.

The other kicker is that today's gibberish four-letter names can easily end up being tomorrow's acronym of a smart new product.

Haven't you heard about Sony's new zQbe?

:)
