Old dog trying to learn new tricks!

Hi my name is Charley and I am from Kentucky. I recently purchased some products from GoDaddy. I first heard about the Domain name reselling a few years ago but never gave it a thought. I am very serious about learning this business and being successful at it. I currently work as a Medical Assistant/Limited X-ray tech and its gonna be funny to be older than all of the patients we see...laugh. Any advice, constructive criticism or information you folks can provide will be greatly appreciated. I do currently have a couple of domains of which I will wait to the right time to unveil. Initially I plan to buy a couple every 2 weeks or so or should I? I am also looking at someones "turn key" site. Is it worth it? Is it necessary? I mean I can spend small amounts of money for awhile hopefully more later. I want to learn though. I took that from a thread I have already peeked at. Thanks everyone.
