I am almost positive that the reply I receive to the reply I will give to the below copy/pasted email will be one of those infamous appraisal scam attempts. How many agree with me???

Hello,

I came across Internet auctions and found your domain for sale. We consider investing in names as an additional income. Of course, we are not going to develop
eac and every domain name. We prefer to resell them later at higher price.

Please email me price for your domain name. If it's reasonable we'll do business.

If you have other domain names for sale please send us the complete list with prices for consideration.

Looking forward to do business with you.

Regards,

Wow, he doesn't even mention the name. If he actually did that, there might be even the slightest chance that this isn't a scam.

Sorry, I didn't mean that you didn't mention it, I meant the person who sent you the email ;)
Sorry if I didn't make that very clear.

Hey Frank, no auctions, just sedo... this would be yet another clue I suppose, that he would mention an auction when there was none...

These guys scour auction sites, parking sites and stuff like that to make fake offers. I had one on ebay for $25 and this guy emailed me asking me how much I wanted $5000-10000. I told him I'd be happy with $2000, but if he wanted it he could bid and probably could get it for $25. He stopped responding. These guys really do have a lot of time on their hands, they respond to all emails as long as you don't hint that you know they are scammers. This must be a full time job for them.

You learned from this, that is what matters. If it sounds too good to be true, or is free......

Those who have earned that title, or simular (and there are several members here who have), resent that :p Albeit, it is not wise to mention that fact in such emails, simply becuase it gives a wrong impression (true or not).

How many of this exact same email does he auto-send or copy+paste in a day?

To be honest? Either you or the buyer are taking some major illegal substances, or are so full of crap as to believe another would believe it. I'll take it you are not the one :)

Just hope all the newbies are reading these type postings. Ambull: Glad you asked, before you went for it. Alot of folks learn the hard way, while you were smart enough to learn by asking before you got the lesson by hard-example :tu:

I received this exact message regarding a domain I recently posted on ebay. I replied with an outrageous asking price... he said he would purchase it with an appraisal. Obviously a fraud.

Id respond to him and ask which domain he meant if he can remember then shoot him a price. If he mentions appraisal screw him. I think everyone on the forums is too quick to dismiss emails as fraud and are missing out on sales every now and then
