The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I don't think .info's are indexed any slower or faster than any other extension into Google.

.info keeps growing even in a recession

Google now indexes 323,000,000 pages compared with 502,000,000 .co.uk pages.
Registrations are now 5,100,000 compared to 7,350,000 .orgs and 2,000,000 .biz

Hi all

I only own 3 .info names and was wondering what people thought of them.

With OLED TVs and other OLED products (Cameras, Watches, Phones, Computers etc) being the way of the future, I thought I would reg a .info on OLEDs (check OLED in Google images to see the TV's, very nice)

OLEDProducts.info

My other 2 are

HybridProduct.info
MegaProjects.info (I do a lot of selling on the Megaprojects in the middle east)

Any comments on these, goood or bad, I dont mind!!

Thanks in advance

you can't lose much that is correct but now that name is only yours for 1 year. so unless you sell it or develop it in the next 12 months you will have to pay another $8 or it is money wasted, even if it is only $1.19.

then maybe the next year you cancel and then you have lost $9.19.

anyway i hope any newbs out there read this. And just so you don't think i am any better - i registered many thousands of .info domains .. so i know what it feels like to waste some money. yes i got to keep some good ones - but the same money invested in a handful of good auction buys (maybe even a .com!) would have been far more profitable.

when you register new domains (which almost always start with a low initial value) the renewals are very significant and so this type of domain has to be flipped quickly or developed, unless you are very sure it is one to keep for , say , 5 years minimum ($40?)

why 5 years? well i think any .com with a decent value was probably registered at least 7 or 8 years ago. i even have some cc.net domains from 10 years ago - they are still only worth $1000 or so. which is OK - but that was the goldrush back then remember. so will pqrs.info be worth $1000 in 10 years .. hmmm not sure about that.

i think there are very very few potentially valuable unregistered names - in any extension. and the ones that are i think are end-user - ie. not following any pattern - so in other words: pot luck. eg. t30.info is available - maybe someone maufactures a T30 and pays you $5000 for the name. then again maybe not. i have far too many 'fingers crossed' domains.

there is one way to pick up names reasonably cheaply and of higher quality - domain drops. i have been tracking .info drops for 2 years. each day about 10-20% of the drops are snapped up. many of them look very nice - most of them will be worthless. none of them have a guranteed value - well apart from the following exceptions:

in the last 2 years i have watched pool.com catch the best .info drops almost without fail - and apart from the occasional premium keyword (which they always get) do you know the only other dropping .info domains which are backordered through pool? lll.info. generally there are 6 or 7 bidders for each one. so would i swap 1000 .info 'finds' for 5 lll.info domains? in a flash. and then keep them/develop them.

*

I totally agree.

When I backordered please.info, I was bidding against 13 other bidders; about six or seven were actively bidding, including the one invalid bid. Had it been the been .com, I'm sure there would have been at least 140 bidders, and I would NOT have won the auction. :red:

The term "Please" gets over 2 billion Google, and over 3 million searches per month.

I can tell you with certainty that the type-in value is about nil for please.info. However, I am developing a site, so I'm hoping that having the keyword by itself will eventually help rank the site very high.

No guarantees, though.

BTW, on the same day that please.info dropped, so did tomato [dot] info. I passed on that because I had no desire to develop a website about tomato information (though I could see value in such a venture). Lo and behold, the page is parked ("What you need, when you need it"). I doubt very much if the new owner is getting much revenue from direct navigation.

These fat keyword infos drop all the time because people reg them (or buy them on the aftermarket) and soon discover that the average web surfer does not direct navigate on dot biz, dot us, or dot info. (They will on .com and might occasionally on .net and .org).

In essence, to be of much value, .info and the other lesser TLDs have to be developed, even with a great keyword.

I must have been looking at the wrong domain name when appraising this one:

Here are the states:

Santa Cruz: 2,240,000 search results

Advertiser CPC: $1.77

Correct Appraisal Value: $2,500-3,000 USD
