I have noticed quite a huge increase for price requests from Afternic(/maybe GoDaddy) for domains I have decided to drop and which are now in Pending Delete. It's gone from 0/day to approx 0-4/day. Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas what's causing it.

Are those names at godaddy only?

The names you are getting price requests on are already on the pending delete?

None of them are at GoDaddy and yes they are (mostly) in Pending Delete or very close to it. Certainly too late for me to negotiate a price and renew the domain, paying the Registry Redemption Fee.

They are still listed for sale at both Afternic and GoDaddy.

I've got a backorder on one of the domains. It should be released tomorrow. If I win it, I'm going to respond to Afternic with a price, and see what happens.

You have a backorder on a domain you own? Is is late in the delete and would cost more than a backorder?

Are the domains showing up in the aftermarket auction that GD has?

Maybe people have a "Watch" on the domains and they are trying to get it thru Afternic before it drops.

I don't really know. It's odd for afternic to contact you about a price request. Are they the buyer or are buyers going thru them? Weird.

Do you know if there is a way to see if someone else has a backorder on your domains? Are they showing up on Namejet or Snapnames?

You cannot renew Pending Delete domains. But I'm sure you know that :) just covering all bases.

These domains are not registered at GoDaddy. So won't show up on their Auctions without me knowing about it.

I would have thought people "watching" the domains would contact me at about 45-50 days after expiry. Not so late that it's too late agree price and for me to renew before they go into pending delete.

It's not at all unusual for Afternic contacting you about a price request on Make Offer domains.

I'll check NameJet and SnapNames for those domains which are in Pending Delete.. But most of these domains have dropped already and been picked up by Huge Domains and others.

OK. The one domain I've backordered, I searched on SnapNames and NameJet. The search on SnapNames found the domain, but I found no way to find out if it had any bids. On NameJet, the search is so FU, I couldn't get past it listing of all Pending Deletes. This has happened to me in the past only when it cannot find the domain. So I am assuming there are no bids on either SnapNames or NameJet.

Do you have a similar link direct to the bid page for SnapNames?

@AEProgram - You were right. It called it a Wish List Auction (I didn't notice that initially). So it doesn't have this deleting domain, even though it is at a major registrar. Strange indeed.

I got a call last month for a name I let drop and was in redemption. The buyer new it and made me an offer of $100 plus he would pay the redeption fee. I agreed, after all it was $100 for a discardedasstet. I waited until payment was recieved until I redeemed it. I just figured he was trying to work around an auction on it.

What! You didn't re-evaluate the domain? (Joke).

Joke, aside, it was a name in a lot I purchased. 7 letter made up word. The buyer was from Mexico and it turned out to be a misspell of a spanish term. So, no, I took the money an didn't look back.

OK. I won the backorder I placed for one of the domains I let drop which had an inquiry at Afternic. I've set Price and Floor prices and told the Afternic broker I will listen to offers. I'm interested to see what happens with this domain.
