Hi all,

I need you assistance on this please!

I have this .pt domain which have very low Avg. monthly searches on Google (around 480/month in Portugal and around 4,400 Global), even with these low numbers I decided to email a big Portuguese company (keyword related) asking if they have any interest on purchase the domain and if so they could make an offer.

Yesterday (one day after my email) I received an email from a Market Director asking my phone number because he wants to talk to me.

I did some research and I found that the same domain (.com) extension is on sale for $4,000

If a .com is $4,000 how much should I ask for .pt domain ?

At present the domain has no revenue, very low number of visitors

The domain is parked is food related, 5 letters, created in 2012...

Can you Guys help me ?

Kindest Regards :gl:

That means nothing, plenty of domains are listed for millions and will never sell. That domain could be worth $4000 but most likely, it's worth much less or possibly nothing. Impossible to tell without knowing the domain. But until that domain actually sells, we cannot swear that it is worth $4000.

Next, you can't really use the price of .com as a baseline for a .pt domain, the markets are different. Again, we need to know the domain but there are other factors that come into play like knowledge of the local market and language, and the industry the domain relates too.

The right price would be one that makes you happy, it's up to you to negotiate a price acceptable to both parties.

Dear sdsinc

I understand what are you saying and I agree with you and I know that a domain only does have value "if" there is a use for it.

I am sure that this company found a use for the domain and I believe that this specific company found a good opportunity to create a value for the domain.

The domain is not generating revenue at this moment, only expenses, if I sell for $100 it is a bonus I believe.

1% of something is better than 100% of nothing

Any tld out of the .com universe is really hard to evaluate...

Thank you anyway :tu:

This looks nothing like a $100 sale., don't do that.
Always know your buyer, they are a big Portuguese company and they seem to want your 5l.pt food related domain. The.com is not important in this case unless they are global maybe. They do not care what you did or you are doing with the name right now, they only care about what they can do with it and how much they are gonna earn by buying the name. Compare similar .pt sales this year (dnsaleprice_com) and see some 4 figures sales with leading Radio.pt for $9,500.

Don't sell this for $100. Go for at least $1,000 under these circumstances imo.

Good luck!

Looking through this perspective I think that you are right. They are a BIG Company, Not global and they can do a lot with it, especially because it is exactly what they do.

I will ask for a little bit more to have some space for negotiation. I wont let it go cheap, to them this money is a Capital Expenditure and not an expense.

Thank you STP :)
