Which one of those is more important when deciding the value of domain names? Some keywords have maybe 20,000 searches per month and have a $0,30 CPC, while others have 2,000 searches per month but have $3,00 CPC. So basically which one is more important?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

It depends of what you are going to use your domain for. If it will be an onlineshop, it is better to have high monthly searches. If you are going to develop it as a blog, forum or something similar and put Adsense ads on it, you have to compare and choose between 20,000*0.3 and 2,000*3.

The best would be a combo of both.

You want popular keywords that people actually search for and a high CPC shows that there are businesses who value the keywords enough to spend good money on them.

Interesting...makes me want to ask.

in picking popular keywords that people actually search for and high CPC.

does the placement of the keywords in the domain matter?

like

popular keyword high CPC + 2nd keyword.com?
or
2nd keyword + popular keyword high CPC

if you want the domain to be say great for a Shoe store? or Jewelry store?

does it matter where you put these words in the domain? Capt Obvious would say put it in front.

but what about at the end? do both have equal value?

Capt Obvious would say putting it in front. but would he be right all the time?

Each case is different.

Here is a little secret.

Don't tell anyone. :xf.grin::xf.wink:

You can tell the proper sequence of the keywords and even if the term is popular or if it is even the proper term or not by simply Googling the complete term and see how many results show up and/or use the exact match term.

I know it sounds simple, but using this technique is extremely powerful for picking good names.

If we go by math, the high CPC domain is good one.

oh I know but what about situations where let's be honest now a days all EMD are pretty much taken so thee only choice is combining high CPC keywords with "descriptives" or any other "Extra" word to make it a useable domain. like

RealEstate.com would be valuable
too late to reg.
so what's your options if you still want to be "in the game"?

HotRealEstate? it's the proper way to say it yet the "target" keyword here is Real Estate yes
so the "money" should be
RealEstateHot but that sounds like crap but in terms of SEO and CPC? wouldn't this be more valuable than the proper grammar one above? OR at least Equal or close to value as thee above?

This still applies.

The best domain names are ones where people actually use the terms in the name as they are written.

This is especially true for niches where you are not familiar with the terms used.

You have to find domains where the terms match how people speak or refer to what ever the name is supposed to be.

If you do not properly phrase the name chances are greater that people in that niche will know something is off and will not find that name to be proper and so it will not be desirable to them.

It is true most of the best terms are taken, but that does not mean you should try to force terms together just to make a name, this is a bad way to find names.

Instead find properly made names in smaller niches where they are composed in a way that makes sense to the end users who will want to buy them.
