I was able to pick up these two names in the 5th day of EAP for a great price. All the highly targeted keywords like news and porn sold in the 2nd day of EAP for around $3,400 each. Please share any of your .now, and your thoughts on the potential future. For some reason, I prefer this extension to .deal that also is in EAP.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
There is also many other Amazon registry reserved names.

Example: ring.now, server.now, mail.now, etc.
They own/reserved a lot of their own brands or names that fit their services.

And like I said a couple pages ago, Amazon is 2.3$T and they donโ€™t mess around. Nor would they spend the time, effort, human capital, money capital, etc, to create a bad TLD, imo. They want to dominate their market/sector. Sure the money to create a TLD may be minuscule for them compared to their market share and cash on hand, but me envisioning their plan, itโ€™s about the future investment imo.

Good intel, Tunnus.

BTW, I got a tech savvy acquaintance into .now

One of their first purchases was: pooping.now

LOL

Money wise, I donโ€™t think the registry business is big enough to interest them.

I think itโ€™s more about control and about their brand protection. They own .amazon so if they already going to be a registry for that then why not get few other strong ones to on the way like . Now etc

Also, Amazon is not only a giant eCommerce behemoth, they are already an advertising power house - as more than 50% of product searches starts on Amazon. Itโ€™s even considered the 3rd largest search engine and you can advertise on it.

The online shopping world is split between amazon and several additional giant players and between Shopify and online stores. Controlling domains will provide them a foothold and more access to websites and online stores.

As I see it, they are fortifying their place as a leader in the eCommerce and in the online business.

As much as @GoDaddy has been pushing .sucks, I say we riot if they donโ€™t add .Now once we surpass it!

Quick question about premiums.
Can Amazon (or any other registry owning any other TLD for this matter) increase the price of a PREMIUM domain you hold while you hold it, without it being expired and returned to the registry for new users to register?

I'm not talking about an annual increase of ~7% as in the cost to renew domains like we have in .coms here and there. I'm talking about something like .now domains that initially cost $100, $500, $1,000 etc.

If they can't, can the increase the price for the next buyer who bought that domain from me (again, without the domain going back to the registry)?

Other gTLDs have done so, so I'd assume Amazon could do it. It's one of the risks of gTLDs. If you really want the answer you'd have to dig through their T&Cs.

Iโ€™m not sure, but I plan on renewing a few of my regular premium names for 2 years well in advance of the upcoming renewal while itโ€™s still $40.

That is some reg fee for a glorified affiliate shopping website
I thought the same. FreshStore must have the numbers to justify the purchase. Shop .now does look visually better than FreshStore .app.

Also, this is more eyes on .now.

Iโ€™m amazed that Amazon didnโ€™t keep this one to themselves.

At these fs prices, surprised they didn't keep em all and just sell via aftermarket, lol. Of course someone could save oodles and just pick up the .com. I prefer the .now - but not for $1,500,000 more.

Iโ€™m no lawyer but dug up a bit in their terms and didnโ€™t find something about it.

They reserve the option the update their terms later one though.

Maybe you guys can find something I didnโ€™t notice. https://www.registry.amazon/

Other registrars have increased prices mid-stream or at drop. It's been discussed here on NP. It's one of the things many hate about gTLDs. Since com/net/org do not have reg premiums the issue doesn't happen there. But gTLDs retain the right to modify renewal prices... so it can (and has) happened
