I was able to pick up these two names in the 5th day of EAP for a great price. All the highly targeted keywords like news and porn sold in the 2nd day of EAP for around $3,400 each. Please share any of your .now, and your thoughts on the potential future. For some reason, I prefer this extension to .deal that also is in EAP.

I picked up

on the 5th day along with 2 others. Liked it enough not to wait until general registration.

btw, are you versed in how it goes for general registration? 101 domains and Dynadot (@Caleb Tweed ) are taking orders now - but I understand the names aren't allocated/registered until Monday starting at 9am. Is it first come first serve? What happens if both registries have a (pre)order for the same name? Dynadot's CS had no clue how to answer this question. Perhaps Caleb does

@NameGroove I purchased mine through Gandi dot net. It was for the 5th day of EAP and the registrations were sent to the registry yesterday morning after 11:00am EST. I have the above two in my account.

I have one now pending at 101domain that fingers crossed I get on Monday for general availability. From my knowledge, it may be an auction if there is more than one request for the same name. I could be wrong.

Right, I have the 5th day purchases in my account as well.

For the orders placed today, 101Domains claims "first come first served", although not sure how that works if they are accepting orders for names across registrars. I even placed an order for the same name at 2 registrars just to see what happens. As well, even after placing 2 orders at 2 registrars, some of my pre-orders still show as avail at other registrars - so you may be right that they'll go to auction. Guess we'll know in a few days.

I also agree with you, quite uninterested in .deal

The .now (and .deal) general registration doesn't open until tomorrow at 9am. So we won't know who gets what until then.

Some names, if purchased during early access for a higher fee, are already in our accounts. But if you bought yesterday or today - it won't process until Monday AM (theoretically).

Porkbun or Namesilo doesn't offer this yet, maybe .later?

The renewal fee yet again kills another new gTLD imo this is not a mass appeal investor's item but targeted for end users. The overhead on carrying gTLDs renewals is why people just return to legacy time and time again among other reasons.

The renewals at Dynadot are $40 per year... not great, but not horrible if you have premium short dictionary

Oh, you bought a premium name then! I bought on 5th day, so paid ~$135 but renewal is only $40. Which registrar did you use?

My renewals for my names which I consider highly premium are only $40 per year. I have two additional names pending for general availability at 101domain that are again normal renewal fees. It was a lot of hot keywords that had reasonable renewals.

Agreed. I ended up buying ~30 .now. We shall see how many I get tomorrow AM.

I also bought 3 .deal Not the best TLD, but I thought worth a shot. We'll see if they hit tomorrow

Is 9am referring to US time?

According to 101domain it the ability to hand register goes live at 1pm UTC (which apparently is 9am EST).

Just a heads up, this is backlogged. I placed an order with Dynadot last night and it was still pending(ERROR) this morning. IF you are able to purchase the domains NOW and wait for a refund, I suggest you do that and not wait. I did that this morning and was able to get:

Invoice .now
Activate .now
Schedule .now

You may not get those names (is the issue). Dynadot is showing many names as available that other registrars are already showing as taken. Dyndaot's response to me was that it is a reigstry issue and they are working on it. I don't trust them - but as you say, you will get your money back if the names don't clear.

That's why I didn't wait for the errors to clear and just bought them again which seems to have worked. I will wait for a refund later.

These are my 4 names. I was able to secure the last two through 101domain with no issue this morning. I am not suprised that Dynadot would be having these issues. All normal renewals.
