I received a notice from Ebay stating that I should take action regarding "EBAYERGUIDES.COM" stating this is a trademark issue.

It's registered through Jan 2008.

This is a first notice of this type I have ever received and I own thousands of names since about 6 months ago.

What do you folks think I should do? Any input is much appreciated in advance.

Oh, maybe give it up. Search around here hard enough and you'll find out it's
one of various things to expect in the business.

Better to learn it now than later down the road.

Ofcourse Ebay is right on the point...its the trademark issue.. you must write a declaration in your site stating that this is not in relation to ebay inc and email to ebay about the declaration you have written in your website... I think this could solve your issue with ebay as ebay will also not have any issue after receiving this declaration that you have given in your website...

And it's because dnou already got eBay's notice. They might think the OP is
trying to avoid liability and give them another book to throw at him.

Hmm, kinda reminds me when I got hit by a 2+ inch textbook back in high school. Ouch.

So using your example.....

You are driving 80mps in a 55mph zone. A cop get behind you and flashes his lights. You would slow down to 55 mph and keep driving because you are no longer breaking the law?

That is basically what you are saying. It does not matter what you do AFTER you get a notice, it is what you did BEFORE you got the notice.
