Hello,

Have a very awkward situation with one of my friend who has almost zero knowledge of domain names.

The thing is that he might have registered the domain name from some reseller of PublicDomainRegistry.com

Scenario is

DOMAIN.com is registered with a reseller of PublicDomainRegistry.com since 10 years or so.

[Is quite good and important domain so all renewals was paid in advance]

DOMAIN.com was hosted on dedicated server.
With NS1.DOMAIN.com and NS2.DOMAIN.com as nameservers.

Email was [email protected]

The mistake he made was changing registrant and admin emails at registrar also to [email protected]

Recently he had some issues with Hosting Company and the hosting company took server down.

He has forgotten from which reseller he registered this domain name first of all.

Upon querying PublicDomainRegistry.com they are saying we have sent the info of which partner you registered your domain name with to the Admin Email address associated with the domain.

The email is not accessible as server is taken down.

Website is down, Email is down, Changing NS etc is not possible as he is not knowing which registrar/reseller he has registered it with.

Moreover, He also doesn't remembers his Password so even if registrar/reseller is found by any means then doing a password recovery will again send an email to the [email protected] email which is not accessible hehheh

Any ideas on how to sort this out?

Thanks.

He thought he is moving the server.

Wasted like 1.5 months trying to find something here and there and by the time he knew that he has to change Nameservers and which he can only do by going to his registrar/reseller site. The Original hosting company has terminated the account.

Technically it can only work if he purchases same hosting on same IP at which his Nameservers are configured at now.

But I don't know if he is already too late for that.

He was suggesting me that he can prove that he has been paying for this server and all stuff and he can even send passport copy of his but I don't know :D

-Nick- PM'd me the domain name. It's registered to a company name and not an individual.

My best suggestion is figure out which reseller the domain is at and call the support number. If he has articles of incorporation or the equivalent in his country that shows him as the owner, and can send his passport I think they'd be able to help him.

I will tell him so and I hope he can fix the issue up. Yes it is a registered company but still on this kind of issues he did this blunder.
