No registered date for .ai domains anymore?

Can anyone still see the date a .ai domain was registered? Recently the registered dates for these domains disappeared for no reasons when I click refresh on whois.com

Some companies are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars for a registry that appears to be controlled by one guy.

1) we don't know yet how long it will stay that way; anyone heard of .io lately?
2) a lot of minor registries were run by one guy, usually the one who was the first to talk a non-tech-savvy government (or king, or prince, or governor etc.) into signing a deal with them; some of these guys were subsequently stripped of that right when the govt decided to sell the rights to a higher bidder; with .ai in the spotlight I'm sure they already got offers from GD and Donuts on the table

All true, certainly in the early days. But they at least had role accounts.

There are already many articles about companies finding out that "AI" is turning off customers. If "AI" takes over, then the term is not really needed.

I can't find the source right now, but a couple of days ago I read that over 50% companies got into trouble because of AI. It's a cool technology, sure, but the way companies are using it... creating fugly pictures and using them in ads... launching crappy chatbots that can only answer "."... spamming the Internet with tons of soulless text... I don't expect a Butlerian Jihad, but people are really, really fed up by now.

A little off-point, but with everything whether it's a one-man show or a group of people, being accountable to a set of rules defined by a governing body or by themselves, with dot-ai years ago like maybe almost 10, Vince was still the dude running it and back then he allowed emoji domains on the extension.

So I took a few that I thought apt to the extension thinking they were great investments, which, if still allowed they likely would have been (think robot, butterfly) to a small but creative group of folk.

There was a change in back-end format maybe around 2017, 2018 can't remember the exact year, that Vince had implemented where it would no longer allow emoji's to be accepted. He sent me an email warning me of the fact and offered a full refund for the entire registration period above and beyond the time remaining on the DNs. Which I took.

I guess point being to me the registry owner has proven to be a solid guy regardless of how he operates the ccTLD there is no smoke and mirrors with him and when questioned he seems to be upfront with how he operates. This is stuff we expect much much larger entities but often don't get due to the massive frontage to be crossed first before getting answers. So it's not always bad to have an operation being run by just one guy, proving they can stand up to the task.

You still got duped, I'm guessing he didn't reimburse you for the opportunity cost, right? Some years back, the .pl registry enabled unicode character registrations without telling anyone. I discovered it by pure chance, regged a couple dozen of nice ones (heart, plane, star etc. etc.) and told the others, who regged even more. That must have triggered some alerts at the registry as it turned out that it was not intentional on their part and they didn't even plan on offering registration of these symbols. Long story short, they deleted all these domains and gave a registry credit of 60x reg fee to everyone (so for each 10 PLN registration they gave 600 PLN registry credit that could be used on new registrations and renewals). I made >$7k from that.
