.mobi No idea what this is worth

I'm having a hard time figuring this one out. I registered flydrive.mobi with the idea that anything travel related is worth something. The overture is only 52 (including "fly drive") and google results "only" 293,000. But the asking price for the .com is $20,000. Does that say anything about the value of the .mobi?

A real selling price would be a start. Because anyone can theoretically ask any price from the ground to the stratosphere for a name, Jeff is correct on it's irrelevance. However, should a particular name sell for alot in a particular extension (say dotcom...), then yes, it does positively reflect on the value of the name in other extensions in many situations.

edit: just so you know... Fly_Drive (as in 2 words), has an overture of 1343 -- which is pretty good for a dotcom. I did a quick read on it... Seems to be a type of USB storage and a mthod of travelling (flying + driving).

I noticed that That's why I don't ask for an appraisal for .mobi's. I've sold 2 for a few x,xxx so far, both that I never would've expected it. So suggesting regfee or millions doesn't mean much. I was just wondering how to set an asking price since there is aren't many sales to go by. But apparently you can't (yet).

Face it. At this point, that is what that domain is worth. Can you get 20K for it? Of course. But appraisal wise, that's what it's worth right now.

You didn't really ask for an explanation though...

I'm not hear to argue or anything. I think any domain at any moment can get alot of money, depending on whose interested.

you asked in your original posting what the value of the .mobi is and I responded with what I thought the value is. So what are you talking about that you didnt ask for an appraisal? There is no point in getting mad just because people think your name isnt worth anything. Anyone can post any name for sale for any price they want and that doesnt determine the value. There are people selling horrible .com names on ebay for 9 million dollars so does that mean the .mobi is worth even 1% of that? Not at all.

I think it is just your approach, you asked for an appraisal and people gave their opinions. It seemed you kinda pooped on their appraisals when really any feedback on an appraisal should not be treated that way. If someone takes the time to give an appraisal that should not be met with sarcasm. So if it seems "everyone else" is getting "worked up" it might have something to do with you.
