Step 1: Research domains
Step 2: Buy good domains
Step 3: Park domains OR develop into full or minisite
Step 4: ?

I have my domains parked at Sedo, waiting for people to notice them.

This seems unproductive and I get excited if I happen to see that someone has looked at my "offer" page and I receive no email for an offer.

I tried emailing 5 big companies about one of my domains and got 3 "no" responses back, and 2 nonresponses. I even made a script and emailed them all individually, not a mass email, so it seemed more 'personal.'

I buy most of my names to sell, but am not sure at the best way to get them attention for possible endusers.

What do you guys do to get these things sold and make a side living, or even a living out of this? Assume I have some good names in my portfolio, but not great ones. Thanks.

More than asking how do people make a living out of this, which you already know as you said it on your post, maybe you should be asking if you picked up the right names and the prices you ask for are the right ones.

If you want an accurate opinion on why this is not working for you it is necessary to name what domains you are trying to sell and the price you ask for.

Maybe you could also say why you picked up domain X and who did you think would buy it and why. Other people with more experience can then let you know if they agree with you or not.

Well, I listed the steps that I used, that I thought people were using, but I didn't acknowledge that it was the way of domaining. I thought maybe I was missing some steps (like marketing them or something)..but it sounds like I haven't if you are saying that I know how to do it. So, that's good then :) I'm doing the right basics it sounds like.

If you want an accurate opinion on why this is not working for you it is necessary to name what domains you are trying to sell and the price you ask for.

For example:
I tried selling 'loan // help // mobi'. I realize it is not a 'hot' domain since it is mobi but figured it could be in the right hands. I contacted cars.com,edmunds.com, and 3 other companies through their administrative contacts from their contact pages by using my personal email account with a sales script. If I can find it I can post it.

Maybe you could also say why you picked up domain X and who did you think would buy it and why. Other people with more experience can then let you know if they agree with you or not.

I have picked some domains for their future values (speculating; like in 3d or medical marijuana dispensaries) and some for possible end-users now. I realize that the right domain is perfect for the right person, if you can find them or they find you.

One step is to donate, download this script..run your names thru estibot and learn what dynamics are involved in a name.

I'm not familiar with scripts, but will check out the site.:tu:

Thanks
