great sell and a vindication of those who do NOT abide by the 14 character rule...

Only the brain dead or the seriously delusional would adhere to such a nonsensical, fairy tale of a rule, which has no credence or credibility in the slightest.

Just sayin'

Nice sale.

That's just about as keyword rich as it gets. A great domain and a great sale. I could see that easily paying for itself over and over again.

Yeah. A rare sale indeed... But it must be worth for New York big market

Agree with all of the above. That said, there are those in the domaining community who will register long domains as a result, and the caution is that as hopkism said, this one is perfectly keyword packed. Alternatives that are not as perfect would be worth close to nothing.

forsalenewyork.com

Hi, I own forsalenewyork.com as well as the same form for each state... any idea what forsalenewyork would go for?

Know who bought newyorkapartmentsforsale.com?

Thinking about selling my domains if anyone is interested...

End user price can be anything. The question is: if someone were selling this same domain for $4200 here at namepros, would YOU buy it?

Definitely a keyword rich domain but it is very specific & a big market so the sale would come as no suprise if it went to the right enduser.

Those people who say this is no surprise, would have appraised this name for xxx - xxxx in the appraisal section. Of course this is a surprise. An exceptional price for a long domain.

With 3600 exact searches globaly and high competition, possibly no Type-in, this would have been a xxxx name (max) in the appraisal section. So please! This IS a surprise. It all comes to the skills of the seller. This name in the hand of another domainer, would probably got him xxx - xxxx (even from endusers).

If I saw this name available for reg fee I would not register it because it seems like an unlikely prospect for a resale. But if the right buyer comes along and you don't need the money and can negotiate hard...

No, I wouldn't. Even after learning of this sale, I still wouldn't.

This domain is still in escrow after 3 months, yet it is still listed for sale at MostWantedDomains.

Really strange. :-/

Without question, can't believe some of the comments saying they wouldn't. It's New York, they have apartments that sell for millions. Someone can make that $42,000 in commission on 1 sale. That domain is perfect, it's super targetted. I think if the sale is legit, good sale for both parties.

Was checking the first site that came up for that term, citi habitats, they got some nice apartments, crazy high, but it's New York. After you buy it, the maintenance fees are something else, some $1400 a month.

Buying domain names for me isn't about throwing money at every domain that could be a success. It has to either be a low investment in the name or a name that can be developed by myself if I can't find a buyer. $4200 on a domain name is a major purchase for me.

I'm not going to spend $4200 on a domain name that caters to a city in a different country than mine, in a city I have never been to and in which I have no contacts. I wouldn't be able to develop this name properly.

As for selling purposes, I'm not against long keyword names unless I have to find a buyer in the high xxxx to low xx,xxx range. There are a lot of quality alternatives in that price range that don't look like a mess on a business card or in an email address.
