why is it that when some people mention their domain here for whatever reason (ask question, list for sale, etc.) they don't type the exact domain name, but instead of the "." they will type [dot] or use a comma? Is it to hide from search engines or something?

For example, "website[dot]com" or "website,com"

I just always wondered why, thanks!

Yes, i think its used (.) or dot to prevent or reduce the chances of your domain name showing a link from this forum for example in some search engines ( above or higher than a parked page etc.)

Your - Parked domain page link - might/could have a lower page rank in some search engines as a result of your domain name appearing on popular websites/forums?
