Why do NP posts disguise domain names?

This may be a newbie question, but I have noticed that a lot of posters on NP don't like to type the full domain names. For example, they will type: domain()com or domain/com or something like that, instead of just domain.com -- but not everyone does that.

Is there a reason for this? Why not just use the domain name with a . ?

thanks!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

One case would be where you are selling domains today for say $20 each for a limited time, fast forward months down the road and some end user is about to buy your domain for $5,000 and then they google the domain and go "Hey you had this name for sale 3 months ago for $5 and a bag of beef jerky" :hehe:

Or they see that you only paid $5 for the name.

plus if you have a name about bass fishing you may not want to see a namepros thread be the first thing listed on search results

^ answer is another reason why some people "disguise" not a statement on their correctness. lol

It is just another sign of the ill-informed nature of MOST of the advice given by so-called domainers on this board.
VERY few know SEO and Marketing techniques that really WORK.

That makes sense. Thanks for the replies guys!
