    Hello everyone,

I am new to domaining and have only started a 3 weeks ago.

As most of the quality domains should have already been registered, I was surprised that some are remains untaken, such as:

Country (or city name) guru.com or Travel followed by name .com
    Buy(product).com (singular)
    BuyCheap(product).com (singular)

I believe in a very old saying "Something that is too good to be true is usually not". May I ask what qualifies a 2-rd (or 3-word) domain.com that has true potential? (except from common sense like = grammatical , no spelling mistake, make logical sense etc)

    Thanks!

It really depends on the country/city name when you add a word to the end. If its a big, popular tourist place like France, Spain, USA, Australia, Germany, England, Japan, NewYork, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, Sydney, Chicago, London etc, then its worth a punt, but not any country/city will work.

You cant tell without knowing the name

To add to what Gilescoley said above, you may also find that some countries have a local country code domain (ccTLD) that is preferable and often ranks higher in search from within that country.

For this reason, a .com name may not be the best option for certain countries, and may be the reason some names are still available.

Thanks @gilescoley and @CraigD for the insight.

I am trying to read and learn hard about 2-word niche. However, I can't find a centralized thread. Appreciate if anyone could shed light on this. Cheers.

Make sure the 2 words are related and make sense:
    - Bad: Tasty Cement, Hot Ice
    - Good: Tasty Tits, Hot Girls

    Thanks @johnn.

    What about "neutral" 2-word?

Like Asia Limousine / Bangkok Condos?

This is very true. I wonder could it be measured which domain is ranked most desirable in different countries

You can find out keyword strength. Estibot offers the amount of broad and exact matches. I also have loads of tools over my sites.

Thanks everyone for the input here.

I am new and have picked up a few .com from Expired Domains. I might have picked up bad names. May I ask if I can consult for advice here publicly or need to use the "appraisal area"?

You can check through to see how many real backlinks etc as there was some reason why you bought them.
Also look at wayback and see what they were used for.

Understood. Thank you. Lesson learnt - I didn't do any of those - just picked them up by guts. Will surely do for future :xf.smile:

HotIce is an absolutely freakin awesome name. Worth thousands to say the least. Very short, very catchy, ''absurdic-cool'' style name. Agree about the rest.
