New to domain parking, couple questions

I've been looking through some of the threads on domain parking

I have a couple domains and I have them parked at sedo.com

is it better to use domainhop or some other hosting service, or is it an experiment and learn for yourself process? also, how does domainhop's 4$ program work?
what is this "optimization" everyone talks about? a way to drive more hits to your parked pages? (I was under the impression it was all people just typing in the url)
same question for "monetizing"

Also, what are the best expiring domain lists?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
For a start, don't bother with DomainHop, there a load of crap if truth be known, and as far as parking goes, Sedo isen't much kop either. IF your names are getting traffic at the moment, you should try a parking program like NameDrive.com or GoldKey.com and if you have over 100 domains, try Fabulous.com, then again if you have 50 "quality" domains, i'm sure Fab will accept them, i currently use Fab and ther efantastic, better than all the other parking programs i have found/used. Now, optimization, optimization is by using a keyword for your domain, for example, if you own PokersiteDirectory.com as i do, the main keyword would be Poker, you can set these Keywords in Sedo and NameDrive i believe, but if you go to Fabulous and get accepted, you can request for them to catigorize your domains for you and they do all the keywords for you.

I hope this helps, if not PM me and i will go into more detail with you.

Thank you

Could you give me some more info about Fabulous? I am planning on moving my parking either to NameDrive or Fabulous. I have heard lots of good info about ND but not a whole lot about F. Could you list some of the positives and negatives about F? Thanks.

I would try Fab before ND, for a start, Fab's pay system seems to be constant, i've heard that ND is good to start with, then drops in revenue, a bit like what GK done which led to them turning out crap, Fab's payout is on time, the 10th of every month, it's there without fail, there pages are highly optimized, there not as pretty as GK or ND's landing pages but they work, its a proven system, now the con's, unfortunatly sometimes not ALL the time they can catigorize a name wrong, simple human error, but then again, just email them and let them know what it should be in and they will change it for you but out of 10 i would give Fab a 9/10 and deffinatly recommend them to anyone, but i think it's really trial and error, there are some parking programs that payout more for a certain keyword etc etc, give Fab a try, not thing to lose, you can always move them.

Thank you

Customer service is second to none, i've always had a reply within 24 hours, if not sooner, and there GUI is fantastic for showing stats, also the source from where the traffic is coming from.

Thank you

i was trying to figure out where my traffic from ikars.com was coming from on sedo, so i emailed them and then they said they would do a traffic audit well they did it on all my domains, so they havent got any revenue for a month when you go to the domains it just shows the words exciting so the point of this story is never ask sedo where your traffic is coming from :)

I found Fabulous to be fantastic for a couple of my names, all others dropped dramatically from when they were parked with Sedo.
I think the best thing is to pick on site to park all your domains and then try other options, I tend to cyclemy new domains through a few ( changing once a month ) until I find what works best for each domain.
It does mean a bit of work and keeping acurate records, but it is worth getting into the habit. If you find that you are only gaining an extra couple of bucks a month then it is probably not worth it.

All the best.
