When do you expect to make a profit when you invest?1 year, 2 years, 5 years, 10 years?

I like some of the new domain extensions that make sense for business so I invested two to three thousand to registered in new domain extensions like .guru .buzz .estate .zone .ninja .team and few other extensions. Though I can’t wait for 5 or 10 years to see return of my investment. By February 2016, this will be the second years of my investment.

I don’t know about you but I have not receive any single offer to any of the domain names I registered using the new gTLDs. While the legacy domain extensions .com .net and .org continue to surge their value. As of writing this article, the price of premium four letters dot com is $2,200 plus change.

In my humble opinion, only the registries making money in new TLDs not entrepreneurs like us. They control most of the premium domain names, and will sell you at high price and premium renewal too. I can’t be part of this business model.

Current plans are to acquire 75 -100 very specific .HighHopesForProfitsWithin2Years new extension names.

Have a reasonable, feasible plan for finding and targeting SOME ( not all !) end-users after the first of the year and during 2016.

Prices are / will be attractive to end-users and possibly long term monetizers, particularly those end-users who compete in ads with big buck ( the .com ) companies and could never get close to " THE " .com name.

So will invest what, about 2 - 4K max and see what I can make happen in 2016/2017.

Expect to make a few registrars happy and, maybe even myself.

There is risk in investment, it's part of the game.. so investing a few K isn't such a bad idea if you can afford to risk not getting it returned.

What the hell am I saying.

But yes, it sucks that they reserve 99.7% of the great keywords/names/patterns and slap on huge fees and renewals... but the space will shape up fast I think in 2 - 3 years

I have some domains I want to register to protect my current dot com. The registration fees range from $500-$5000 that's crazy.

The registries simply want to cut out the middle man and rack in on renewal fees. There are gems and you really have to dig in and find them. I have registered quite a few different gtlds. Most of the gtlds did get much love at all, however .tech has been very fruitful in regards of interest. I have Fortune 500 companies inquiring quite often.
