Sorry, 3rd thread in this section in 24hrs, hope it's not seen as spamming.

I've just seen a post by a "new member" who has less than 10 posts, all in March / May 2007.

But the post bit says the member joined 3 years ago.

Is this a bug in NP, or do people really lurk for 3 years before posting?

well could be possible that the person was busy all that time..

or might be that he did not even remember that he had an acount here. now when he went to register the sytem would have said that an account with that email id already exists.
then he simply decides to use the "forget password" feature and gets back his 3 year old lost account

Even though we prefer all members participate as much as possible ,The number of posts anyone makes really doesn't mean much to me personally (From any viewpoint).

There are quiet a few long term members here with less than 50 posts ever that I wouldn't hesitate to do business with (Mainly based on the facts of their Reputations online).

Another way to look at it - While the "Total Post Count" looks good on Forums , I think most Forum owners will agree they'd prefer Quality over Quantity any day ;)

Completely agree, I meant nothing against the member in question (I tried very hard to anonymize the stats by removing any specific numbers/dates) sincerely hope it didnt come across that way.

I was just wondering if it was a bug or something as it seemed odd to me. Your responses indicate that it's not a bug (and only seems odd to noobs like me), so thx all for clearing that up for me!

It's just the default user title for a user with that many posts; it's not calling him a n00b. :]
