Hi Eric,

This is my suggestion only..

1. I think we should not allow new members to start a design contest or atleast they must meet minimum post criteria.

2. If point no. 1 is not applicable then new members contest should be prepaid in order to avoid waste of designer's effort.

Thankyou.

1) If you set the criteria too high you get a severe cut off in the amount of contests. Even a minimum is probably counter productive, because lets face it NP needs more contests.

2) If you ever participate in off NP design contests you know that design contest by nature are time wasters.

3) NP contests are in fact pro developer because of the higher odds of wining the contest. There isn't 80 designers entering the contest. (this is your time saver)

4) NP contest are pro contest holder because they can set a prize much lower than other contest sites.

Bottom line NP needs more contests holders, real hard to tell someone that joined NP specifically to hold a contest that they cant because of some rule. It would be too time/labor consuming to prequalify/take adown payment on contest. And the pluses for you (less competition) out weighs the non payers.

Thanks for the suggestion Amin Khatri, however at this time we wouldn't want to force specific post criteria since it would eliminate a majority of legitimate contest holders that are new to NamePros and looking to have a web site developed around a new brand (In which they start a contest to have the brand made).

In the future, we may consider a 2nd option for contest holders called "PrePaid" to encourage more designers to enter, however we wouldn't force that as the only option. By starting a contest a member is bound by the contest rules and the penalties for violating them. All it takes is one non-paying contest and a member losses their privilege of accessing that forum and receives a bad business infraction. This allows us to limit any repeat incidents. On the same token, we also have rules in place for designers to help protect contest holders from copyright violations and future lawsuits because of them.

While our contest forum may not be as up to pare with large targeted sites specializing in them like 99design, crowdspring, etc. We offer a place where contest holders can save money having work done and designers just starting out or trying to build a client list can get their feet wet, get hands on experience, build a portfolio, grow a client list, and make some money while they better their skills.

Thanks again,

Eric Lyon
