vanex, lets suppose it is 2014 and the mobile phone is the defacto main gateway to the web, as in, more people access the web via their phones and more money is spent on products and services via the phone. Lets also 'predict' that during the next five years .mobi gains substantial public awareness from efforts made by its sponsoring corporations such as google and nokia, and all the thousands of multinational branded mobi sites such as coke.mobi etc (that btw are growing by the day).
Now lets say that you use
www.m.vanextfishingtackle.com for your mobile site and plan to spend $50,000 on marketing of this site, meanwhile fishing.mobi is available to be purchased for $5,000, that essentially markets itself. Hmmm, the most generic name in one of the top two (.com +.mobi) most appropriate TLD is available, what shall we do?
Vanex why are you waging your mini propaganda war on this forum?
You are fighting a losing battle and, IMO, you are exposing a very limited and uninformed vision of the future of the web. As a domain investor and business man you should read up on this mobile web, it will eclipse the regular web very soon.
You may wish to hedge your bets with dotmobi while the prices are accessible, forget mobi's relevance for technical reasons, its simply a new namespace for a new and incredibly powerful medium. And like anything and any business decision you make, you best get on board early before mass market adoption. Making that investment requires taking risk, but there is enough information out there to lend weight to the idea that mobi will be a phenomenal success!
