Honestly, if they're dead, I don't mind having them pushed into my account for free ;)

The problem with a lot of the discounted gTLDs is that they are full of gambling/adult affiliate landing pages and very little content. The danger is that some of them are so locked into a discounting model to drive registrations that it has created a Boom and Bust cycle in their registrations and most of the registrations do not renew.

Yes, the problem.

The problem

Remember? :)

"I own no .mobi names. If it were possible to own a negative number of domain names to further distance yourself from the name space, I would probably own “negative thousands”

-Frank Schilling

The truth.

“Just like any other private business starting up, all these new TLDs will have a 50 per cent chance of going out of business in two or three years,” Holland says. “That’s going to be somewhat disquieting to people.”

From this month's statistical survey of .LINK domains:
Category | Percentage
| Active/unclassified | 6.4418 |
| Affiliate Landing Page | 6.0818 |

And the data is still being crunched.

The .LINK gTLD is not the worst. It has over 100K registrations. There are some gTLDs with less than 1% Active/unclassified.
