Hey Everyone,

I just registered a few new domains with the idea of developing one or more with affiliate links on the site. Please pick your favorite --- it will help me decide which domain(s) to develop first.

Keep in mind potential search-engine ranking, google/overture results, competition in each niche market, and of course, potential revenue.

Thanks,
Scott

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
I didn't see the names at the time of posting.
----------EDIT-------------
Ok I see them. I wonder why don't you use .coms and these keywords are not that great even for .nets.

I wanted the exact search term in my domain name for SEO-friendliness. The .coms were all gone. I realize there's no music.com in the bunch, but I think I can still successfully translate these domains into revenue.

I'm adding google results for each search term here:

"10-key" 1.7 miilion
"art set" 1.1 million
"baby carriage" 827,000
"bicycle helmet" 611,000
"fitted sheet" 1.5 million
"grill accessories" 362,000
"grooming products" 725,000
"safety helmets" 323,000

Google Results show no use when comparing them to how good a domain name is.

Jiblob, thanks for your input :)

I'm not saying these are great domain names in and of themselves. They probably would have been registered before now if they were. What I'm getting at is...for instance 10-key.net...If you type in 10-key on google, you get 2,000,000 pages, with over a thousand searches monthly at overture. The top page on google is PR5, scroll down a little, and you get PR3 pages. I'm thinking I can put up a site that can get ahead of those sites in the search listings and be ranked in the top 3 three on the page. People typing in "10-key" are probably looking to purchase 10-key instruments. So that's where the revenue would come in.

Or i could be crazy ;)

I voted for GrillAccessories ... I personally go out looking for that very thing about twice a year for my brother in law (Christmas and birthday time), men are so darn hard to buy for sometimes. :)

I voted BabyCarriages.net. Even in the net, any traffic will be focused and ready if the content is there. (Which I know it will be from your work.)

Grill Accessories has the same potential.

Peace,
Cyberian

I've been thinking about the same kind of thing. I don't think you are crazy. If you can get in the top 1-4 on Google for "crapola-fartknocker" and thousands of people search for this term every day, then you can sell or promote whatever crapola those people are looking for.

It's like SEO without the effort!

BabyCarriages.net

It's specific, and new (or soon to be) parents spend money.

I voted for ArtSets.net. The next would be GrillAccessories.net.

I voted for ArtSets.net. I like it and it could be profitable. Next for me would have been BabyCarriages.net. I'm sure expecting mothers and moms would like to see a baby carriage review site of some sort.

Thanks to everyone for your input.
I really appreciate it!
It's a tough call...either Art Sets, Baby Carriages, or Grill Accessories. Baby Carriages might be the most lucrative, so I may go that route. Or I may just go to the beach and let these names sit for awhile.
Nah! ;)

GrillAccessories would be a little seasonal, in my opinion, but would probably sell fairly well. There is a good affiliate program over at shareasale.com , as I recall.

BabyCarriages would sell pretty well. A few years ago I started up a baby site, but never advertised it, and have not updated it for at least two years. Still, I do make the occasional baby item sale from there, even without trying. If you are looking for a .com, I would sell you www.BabyPrecious.com for $150.... I need some bucks right now, and it has some meager traffic coming in, like three uniques a day, all organic.....

Fitted Sheets would be a year round item, not nearly as exciting or flashy a product, but the quality bedding items can be rather high cost....might be some good money tucked away there, and I am willing to bet it has not been terribly exploited by other affiliates.

If I was a gambling fellow, I'd go for fittedsheets.net for the stated reasons - year round traffic, minimal competition, and I'd also suggest that it is tightly focused on a niche.

p.s. - I don't think GroomingProducts.net is a very good domain, because it is confusing - are you grooming animals, or your wife? I think the domain needs to have a better focus.

Rogue - you're probably right about grooming products...ovt results were the lowest out of all the domains.
Highest ovt score (3730) was for bicycle helmet, although the plural domain was taken, so I took the singular. Grill accessories was 2nd (2272), followed by baby carriages (2196).

Here are some of the names I rejected.
Maybe one of you will put one to good use...
