The new August Cover Story has just been published at DNJournal.com and if you own domain names that you are interested in selling this article will be of special interest to you. The domain aftermarket is soaring. If you follow our weekly domain sales reports, you already know that - but you may not know the reasons why it is happening and more importantly – you may not know how you as a domain owner can best take advantage of this explosion of interest in domain names.

It’s little wonder that people are a bit confused right now. The major companies operating in the aftermarket have come up with so many new initiatives over the past year that you need a scorecard to keep up. The purpose of this article is to clarify what all of the new names (like AfternicDLS and Domain Distribution Network), sales platforms and developments mean for you and your business. We also take a look at how aftermarket veterans Sedo.com and Moniker.com are keeping the cash registers ringing with fresh sales strategies. You can read all about the new ways to boost your business through the link below:

It it interesting to see how each company is finding their niche. I was caught by surprise to see GoDaddy integrate Fabulous's DDN system. If Fab can get Register.com, enom and Network Solutions onboard, add 2 years of maturity and you'll have a near perfect domain sales platform.

In the long run, I imagine a DDN like system along with live auctions will be the prime way most aftermarket names will trade hands. Perhaps registries should implement the DDN like system rather than registrars (that is one of my concerns because it would be easier to get all registrars to cooperate then).

Nice article indeed.

"global giant Sedo.com who recently expanded their aftermarket reach with the acquisition of GreatDomains.com"

"and Moniker.com, the company that pioneered the thriving live auction format that produces the majority of publicly reported high value sales."
