Hello,

I just emailed Neustar compliance regarding a .us name that doesn't show a bit of US ownership from the Whois records. I know it's an old story and I know that Neustar doesn't give a rat's ass, but I'm going to follow it up with emails to ICANN and the US Dept. of Commerce.

Other than that, is there anything we, individually or collectively, can do to have Neustar enforce compliance against this type of fraud?

Tom

If I recall with the person with the NNN.us they give you 15 days or somewhat to move it to a location in the US.

why don't you mind your own business?

you've got no idea if the person has any right to it or not. for example, there are plenty of americans who reside abroad who have the right to register .US domains. how do you expect to know the registrant's citizenship from a whois record?

Why don't you two take a flying leap. If it's legitimate, folks have nothing to worry about.

If it isn't, it's fraud.

And it's not me who determines that. It's Neustar.

Worried about something?

I agree... if someone has a hold of a good chunk of premium domains and they dont look legitimate I'm going to go after them and try and let those names drop. Chances are neustar will just hold them but might as well try.

Agreed.

The idea of the .US, according to the US Department of Commerce, was to develope legitimate American business. This is why there is a Nexus compliancy agreement. :)

Way agreed. I think that is why the DoC has released the RFQ. July 30th is not that far off...hopefully someone respectful will step up to the plate... :td:

if all non usa domainers drop their .us domains it will be failure. They wait for the tld to gain strength otherwise they could put a security (social security number etc) in the begining , for example it is not easy to get my country specific tld.
As a foreigner I understand the risks from this thread , this is just the begining if .us gets popularity it will be more risky so I decided to drop all of my .us domains that I can not sell after this year.
