Even though I've NEVER been a fan of NetSol, I think this will be very good for .pro.

If anything, perhaps they will have a better pricing structure than Encirca's $24.99 for the first year only and additional years $49.99 renewals $59.99.

NetSol has never known for being cheap though.

Hey, thats practically cheap!

I did get word from Registry Pro to watch their news, maybe some more big boys coming soon!

Have a read of my thread about the problems I'm having with Encirca getting my .pro domains transferred into my own name. Network Solutions is cheaper with the coupon code for new registrations and cheaper without the coupon for additional years, it's also a safer bet in my view. Can you imagine Network Solutions refusing to update their WHOIS data until you renew your domains, that's blackmail. Pay $75 now and you can reregister at $59.99 in future.

I just did "Test" with 2 new registrations in NetSol and Domain People. I am not going any further. Verification process for .pro is shabby. Pro is defiantly not for domainers besides domainer.pro domain.pro domainname.pro name.pro Huuh

You can register .pros for $19.99 now at DomainPeople, that's the cheapest I've found.

I got an email from Network Solution saying if you put the code 2600 in when you reg a domain name until 22 Sept you get an extra 25% of the reg fee. That bring NetSol .pros down to $22.50.

code 2600 wouldn't work for me a couple minutes ago, but 19.95 at DP is nice!

Can someone give me an example of how much a .pro is?

i.e. is "A.pro" value equal to atad.com? (chose a random vcvc.com)

Domainpeople price for .pro is nice as well as $35 renewal. But I wonder how they sell their .coms for $35 - so expensive!

anyone know the number of new .pro regs? or where to check?

i've seen some pretty obscure names being regged at motion.pro, but i know that's encirca regs only.

Yeah, someone is going crazy on names like NEWYORKATTORNEY.PRO ... I don't know how many states and versions, but it's a lot. I dunno if we can call this a landrush, but more people are sure hedging their bets.

oh, I regged 11 names over the last 3 days (all at NETSOL and DomainPeople). 4-5 names are 100% for own development purposes and not for sale at all! $20 and $35 renewal fee at DP is a fair price. I much prefer the term .PRO over any other extension except .com and .net (I still wonder why .com is #1 and not .net from a logical sense). And if the registry can keep spam, junk and porn out of it....it would be actually a very good thing IMHO

NetSol has modified their main Domain page adding a .pro checkbox under the "Most Popular" extensions. .com .net .org .biz .info .mobi .name .pro

This will really help getting the name out there. I think already a LOT of names have been taken. Used to be if I typed in random 1 word names for .pro 80% would be available. This time everything I checked was gone.

Anyway to find out what names are being registered?

Encirca has the RSS feed, I don't think other registrars do that.

have you seen this summary page, granted it's only encirca's regs and it only goes back a couple days ... but i gotta assume netsol, DP and the other larger registrars are doing just as well if not better.

Domainpeople.com does not do domain transfers either... I think I will do drop-catching of my own domains.

Hostway currently offers .pro for 14.95/year

...and there is no trap as a renewal fee seems to be 34.95

It´s good to see Hostway taking a lead on lower .pro reg fees. You can´t have restrictions AND high reg fees. If registrants have to jump through hoops to register a .pro they want value for money versus other gTLD´s.

Good deal! Do any of the registrars offer domain transfers?

Does anybody know if you can do inbound .pro transfers at NetSol yet?
