NetSol Is Going .pro

Even though I've NEVER been a fan of NetSol, I think this will be very good for .pro.

If anything, perhaps they will have a better pricing structure than Encirca's $24.99 for the first year only and additional years $49.99 renewals $59.99.

NetSol has never known for being cheap though.

Yes they are more foucused on the general business owner who might also own a domain name.

Definitely good news for .pro (but then any step forward marketing-wise is good news for such an under-promoted extension).

I keep meaning to email GoDaddy and eNom to see if they plan to offer .pro anytime soon (anyone else done this yet?). I still anticipate GoDaddy offering $25 registrations to be the 'tipping point' for .pro, if it ever happens.

I did ask godaddy about a month ago and they said no Pro. If they see Netsol making money on it though I wouldn't be surprised if other big guys join in.

Very cool to have NetSol offering .pro!!!

$29.99 Reg, $39.99 Renewal

Say GOODBYE to $99 reg fees pro fans!

That's a decent price for NetSol.
One good thing about NetSol being one of the first onboard is their existing huge user base of corporate clients (some of whom may be ideal for .pro). Let's hope NetSol get writing to these company's marketing departments.

Yes, if they start offering it in their lists..."Hey Company.com is taken, but looky, .pro!" things can start getting exciting pretty fast.

It's a good day to be an incorporated business.

For others, they are looking for Professional Credentials. This is really only an idea, but I don't see why being a member of the DNOA wouldn't count. A domain professional is still a professional!

I rang Network Solution. They have no plans for inbound .pro transfers at the moment. Also, the $39.99 is for additional years, it's not for renewals because without inbound .pro transfers they aren't going to have any for 12 months. It's a pity but I'm glad to see them offering .pro.

No transfers yet to Netsol, but I'm sure eventually

Oh and per the new Rules it looks like you can reg 3 letters over at NetSol, but when you do they don't show up in your account yet...nor do they show as taken.

With the new rules though your supposed to be able to reg them.

We'll see if I get the ones I wanted ;)

Hey look...a company has figured out that their walled-garden isn't profitable!

This is a good move by pro but maybe it's a bit late. pro could have been positioned really well a few years ago but now...not so sure it can recover from it's tarnished image or compete with the large influx of extensions about to come.

I agree. There is about to be an explosion of tlds, and now .pro is going to have to fight to get the same attention it would have had it been available at this level a few years ago.

The 3 letter regging is a programming glitch at Network Solutions. They will auction the 3 letters. So much for MelbourneIT, they still don't have .pro on their panel.

Thanks, was wondering why some were available.

interesting that you only need to supply license information once. so what happens when names aren't related to one another or your license?

follow up email from network solutions...

Note: Business license information is required to be provided only once per registrant even if you have purchased multiple .pro domain names.

Words don't have to be relate to your license. Professionals can register any keywords they want.

.ebay, .google etc ... will have an impact.

will they offer sub domain registrations? what do you think they'll charge?

cosmicray.ebay / cosmicray.google

really the only thing .ebay will compete with is ebay.com - imo

not sure we will see many of these in the long run... i think the only thing that really makes sense is for big registrars to start their own extension and sell like along side the others. maybe .go for godaddy or .fun for enom, .ibm doesn't have much appeal over .ibm.com.

I got an email from Network Solution saying if you put the code 2600 in when you reg a domain name until 22 Sept you get an extra 25% of the reg fee. That bring NetSol .pros down to $22.50.
