.Pro relaunched yesterday but Encirca are refusing to transfer my ProForwarding .pro domains into my name until I renew them. They are charging $24.99 for new .pros, $49.99 for additional years, $59.99 for new .pro renewals and $75 for ProFowarding renewals.

The downside for current Encirca .pro registrants is they are stuck paying $75 for another year to get the domains back into their own name. Is there any way I could force Encirca to put my .pro domains into my name without having to wait until they renew and pay another year of renewal at $75.

I have put the request in writing and sent them details of my professional qualifications that entitle me to hold .pro domains in my own name.

I am having the same issue... we are forced to pay $75 for renewals while all new renewals are for $59.99.

Other than the legal side of it, you can try creating a new account, transfer the domain on that account and see if it lets you change owner ship as the new account would be shown as registered after september 8th, 2008?

If not, I hope transfering domains between registrars becomes a reality really soon!!!

This is driving me nuts. I noticed that DomainPeople are offering .pros for $19.99 now compared to $22.50 at Network Solution with the coupon code 2600 or $24.99 at Encirca. I have tried every registrar listed on RegistryPro and none of them do in-bound .pro transfers. I have sent a filled in a Contact details problem form at ICANN (you can get the link from RegistryPro) and sent an email to RegistryPro with the following information from their site with a request to validate the name I renewed.

Your Name
Your Profession
Your Jurisdictional Country
Your Licensing Authority
Your License Number
A link to your Licensing Authority's website.

My understanding was this was meant to be done by self certification not a long winded process like this for every domain renewed.

I don't understand all this. We all have a brick and mortar business for each name we reg, right? With biz lic. and etc. Correct? And it's all tax deductible like all our other lic fees, right?

I have emailed Encirca a confirmation from RegistryPro that I have submitted AV verification details to prove I'm professionally qualified but I still can't update my WHOIS registrants details.

I understand registrars are obliged to keep WHOIS records up to date. Would any domain lawyers on NP be willing to represent me on this to force Encirca to update my .pro WHOIS registrant details?

won't work.

the owner of the domain is shown in the registrant information.

IIRC, Encirca's name is there on proforwards. so they own it.

just like generic registrar whois privacy; the registrar puts its name (or the name of its privacy branch) as the registrant.

Best bet would be inter registrar transfers, I hope they get the programing and glitches, etc. figured out real soon!!!

I got an email from Tom Barrett at Encirca. He said Encirca are not deliberately delaying the updating of WHOIS records and that they are waiting to receive a valid AV object from RegistryPro. He said when Encirca try to update WHOIS details they get an error message "Registrant not associated with a valid A/V result". Tom said he thinks RegistryPro haven'y automated the process yet and have a backlog of requests, he is checking with RegistryPro. I have sent another email to Matt Buckland at RegistryPro because he said it was down to Encirca to update WHOIS records after A/V records were submitted.

Sounds like you are making progress. Matt over at Registry pro is a good guy. I'm sure it'll get straightened out.

Any update on this Campbell? I'd like to transfer some names myself.

I have my .pro AV record verified by RegistryPro now. So far I have only managed to get 1 .pro in my own name though. I can update the registrant details in my account with my own CUST-XXXXX reference so they match the contact, admin, tech details but this doesn't update the registry registrant record. I have renewed 8 .pros since the relaunch on 8 September including 5 today where I had to tick a box agreeing to the new terms of use for and the WHOIS registrant details are still showing Encirca's name. This is a complete mess, how are other people doing?

According to RegistryPro, inter registrar transfers are already available. Now, why haven't the registrars implemented that, I don't know.

I am going to wait and see, maybe in few weeks we will be able to transfer domains from encirca to other registrars.

On the issue of renewal pricing, I just renewed several .PRO domains at Encirca, circa pre-9/8/08. I am happy to report that they are now charging $59 across the board.
