I know that many believe that .coms are 100x better to have but I see often enough a dot net site where they own the dot com too.

http://www.mygamercard.net/

That's an example. I also own a .net started site where I later acquired the dotcom but I still run the site as a .net.

Does anyone else have sites they know that runs as the .net even though they own or just redirect the dot com?

the only way you make the .net is you also own the .com, otherwise your traffic is contributing to someone else.

Yea, they will make $.02 for every $1.00 I make. You can call that my DOT COM stimulus plan.

That's one issue with .net. You spend all your time developing and many people accidentally type-in .com. >:(

.net is a descent fallback if the .com is taken. Looking through this thread, there are a lot of successful .net's, but they are probably losing some sort of traffic to a .com.

Fascinatingly enough, I have some developed .coms that receive <keyword>.net searches as shown through analytics + cPanel... at the same time, ccTLDs as well... such as .es (either undeveloped or open for reg fee) Also, I'm sure this (http://www.namepros.com/domain-names-with-traffic-stats/574036-hi5-dot-net.html?highlight=hi5) isn't worth more than xx-xxx without the established .com.

I feel for some odd reason I continuously "back-up" .net/.org, but in reality, it's backing up the idea that there are opportunities out there for those that look close enough. Of course, everyone has their own limits and strategies. Whatever works for those, I guess!
