.US domains.US domains
Well that really depends on the site of website or domain you are planning to buy and the target audience. If you will be offering more US oriented information or the domain is related more to the US, the i think .us is the better of the two, but overall, .net is more popular than .us

Short-term trend - .us
I've had more offers (albeit low-balls) on my .us's this month than I have all of my .net's ever (True, I do have more .us's than .net's. And as Grrilla pointed out, Figures lie and liars figure.).
.net's have performed well in the past, but even great dictionary word .net's are going cheap on snap, and 3 letter .net's have fallen (on snap) from hitting $1,900+ almost every time, to now going for $700-$1000 for decent letters . (Then again, that could mean it's a buyer's market!)
Just one man's experiences ;)

As mentioned above, your choice should depend upon what you intend to do with this site and your target audience. If you business is based in US and your target audience are the people from the US then go for .us or .net is a nice option too.

Personally, I'd reg both of them. If you are going to resell the domains, you normally can get more for the package than you can for them individually.

Target audience is certainly the key if you must choose 1 out of the 2. As fonzie said, and funds allowing, I'd pick them both up if they are solid keywords.

I went with both .us and .nets....Who knows what the market will really do concerning .us..None the less..all these names i regged..every tld is taken...So i feel pretty good about em....If .us goes hot...I have some beauties:)

A few i regged.

If you're planning to develop a site that caters to a worldwide audience, I'd go with .net. .US creates the impression that your site is local to the U.S.

Currently i am targeting US traffic,So they fit rather well,I think at some point the net will branch out somewhat by countries...Like the UK'ers typin .co.uk,India and the middle eastern countries.. .in and so forth to frequent alot of sites..so will the US.

Foreign internet users automatically assume .us is the official portal - particularly with metro city web portals.
