Hey

I sold a domain name on Afternic and got the authorization code for my domain but after few minutes I received another email from Godaddy saying that the domain has been cancelled and its not showing now in my Domains.

How can I get my domain back?

Do you mean that the sale was cancelled and still transferred out? Or do you mean that you wish to transfer it out but you don’t have the domain?

What email did GDiddy send you?

When your domain sells on Godaddy, they send you an email informing you that the domain has sold. They will then send you a second one shortly after that stating that the domain has been cancelled. This is because it has been taken out of your account and is in transit to the new owner.

I am theorizing that since Godaddy purchased Afternic, they are implementing the same administrative processes. I don't think it's any cause for alarm. You will not get the domain back, but you will get the money it sold for less the commission. Verify with Afternic/Godaddy.

Yes the exact same thing happened. I never had an experience with Afternic before so didn't knew how it works. Meanwhile, the Afternic shows that Transfer is completed so I am not worried now.

Godaddy boss: What word should we use?!
Employee #1: Transferred
Employee #2: Moved
Employee #3: Canceled
Godaddy boss: Canceled fits perfectly!

It sounds like you sold a name via fast transfer and it moved. But you can email [email protected] to know fo rsure.

I just had a similar situation with Godaddy/Brandbucket. Domain removed from Godaddy account yesterday, and sold email from Brandbucket received today. I spent several hours on chat with Godaddy yesterday trying to figure it out. Trying to contact BB today, but no response yet. Hopefully, everything's in order, because I no longer have the domain in my GD account, so there's no way for me to move it to Brandbucket's GD account.

I think it's more like
Employee #1-#3009: Transferred
Employee #3009-#3012: Moved
Godaddy boss: Cancelled fits perfectly!

Seriously .. I've only said it a million times .. GoDaddy's automated emails are such a confusing messy disaster they need to be taken out behind the barn and shot .. and then someone needs to burn the farm down .. and then someone needs to nuke the farm .. and then whatever planet the farm was on needs to be bombarded with a thousand comets and then pushed into a black hole!

thats exactly what happened, with afternic and godaddy being the same company they dont go thru the same procedure as with a different registrar. If it sells on afternic, godaddy takes it out of your account almost instantly. Congratulations!

Sigh .. but I'm not even joking!

Seriously .. I could go on .. but @NamePros limits us to 150,000 characters per post! :-/

My first sale on Godaddy gave me panic attacks, to say the least. I was wondering how it was possible for me to sell a domain I don't have. In the end, it all worked out. The subsequent ones have been quite smooth since I'm now familiar with their process.
