I think that no one has answered because, at this point, there isn't much you can do, other than

(1) Select your must-keep domains and pay the eNom reg fee. Check to see if there are any coupons for eNom on this and other forums. Also check your renewal emails (don't forget to check your spam box) for coupon codes. I agree that $34.00 is a lot of money. However, if any of your domains are premium, do renew them. If not, consider dropping them. If you are using any of them for an active blog, forum, website, definitely renew those, even if they aren't great names.

If your funds are severely limited, create a hierarchy, most important to least important.

(2) Allow the crap ones to expire, and don't look back.

Question to the uber-experts: Can you transfer a nearly-expired or even expired domain to another registrar, or do you have to renew it first???

The reseller option sounds a bit over the top, over-kill, really. I would NOT sign up for a reseller account when you're in a panic. That is something that should be thought out very carefully and with a business plan in mind.

I'm not even sure that you can push expired or even nearly expired domains to a reseller account. Maybe someone else knows the answer to that.

Someone?

So don't do anything until someone can answer your questions better than I can.

Also, you probably have a grace period of 7-14 days after expiration.

Now once you get squared away, start planning your transfers away from eNom right away to a cheaper registrar, but avoid 1&1 and Yahoo (which is expensive anyway). Do research on this forum about various options for registrars. GoDaddy offers a lot of coupons and cheap regs, but has an annoying interface, etc., etc. Domainmonster and Dynadot have smoother interfaces, but tend to be more slightly more expensive. However, you should pay no more than $7.00 - $10.00 per .com renewal/transfer fee (which often includes another year).

I'm curious: why did you wait so long?

I know that if you have started the transfer to another registrar before expiry at eNom the transfer will go through. I'm not so sure what happens after expiry. Perhaps the OP could try 1 transfer and see if it goes through. I'm also not sure if eNom allow push after expiry. Perhaps the OP could go here DomainSmarty.com - Your source for low-cost domain name registration and open up an account and try to push the domains to that account. If that fails, he's !@#$%^ and should do what Ms Domainer suggests. I have no interest in Domain Smarty, But I know they are very helpful. If all else fails, an email to Domain Smarty would be his last chance.

i really appreciate ur helpful posts

and many thanks for your replies

but what i am asking now about

if i could really push the domains to any other account

even reseller or retail or one on domain smarty

is it safe?!!!

i mean i could control my domain with no resterictions and i could transfer it after that to godaddy as example or what is this ??

look. You have to help yourself in your dire situation. Not wait for us to present a solution to you. Go and open up the domain smarty account and try to push the domains. If they push. Great, renew. If they don't you haven't lost anything out. For sure there are no restrictions to transfer to GoDaddy, but why would you need to? Except for the 7 day hold on a new push at eNom.

If they haven't yet expired. Transfer them.

Technically, expired gTLD (.com, .net, .org, etc) domains can still be transferred. I've done it.

Though it's no sure thing, because the losing registrar can choose to disallow it unless one can make a good case as to why they're requesting transfer out after expiry.

In my situation, eNom allowed it because a registry / registrar sync issue with .ORG domains when doing pushes (eNom updates their local whois, but doesn't always update the registry) - yep, crazy as it seems, eNom is among the few that maintains its own whois even for thick registries, but I digress.

As far as what the OP should do ...

1. For domains not yet expired, get their authcodes, unlock them, and transfer out as usual. Once the process is started (which could be many hours after you actually make the request so keep that in mind in regards to expiration date / time), there's a good chance they'll transfer out.

2. In the meantime, call eNom and explain your situation - they'll likely give you a significant discount, if you're willing to renew a bunch of domains (even if already expired) right away over the phone - have your credit card ready.

can't you just create a new account and push the domains at transfer rate ?
