Hi all,

I couldn't find any answers with the search button. I wanted to know what is the best image size resolution to use when designing web graphics in Photoshop? When i mean resolution, i mean the pixels/inch setting and what should i use for the background? Transparent/RGB/White? Also what size do most designers make their website for? 1024x768? I need to figure out the size of my background.

Any advice is appreciated thanks!

Res - 72 dpi

Background: RGB or White (start with white if you like and just add a layer and fill the layer with your color - I like adding a texture layer above that filler layer and turning down the opacity to like 5%)

Normally I start with 1024X768 or 1400X800 for the initial design w/ background.
-From there I normally make the main content (if your using tables... the main content table) a width of no less than 800 and no more than 1024.

btw - the best way to make an image bg is to use a seamless image. A seamless image is an image that can be duplicated and can be put to any vertical or horizontal side of itself without leaving a seam. Type in "seamless" in istockphoto and you will get results as examples. This limits your bg image size and allows your background to span across 100% of any screen.
-Otherwise it's difficult to use one large image unless you are familiar with CSS and Photoshop.
