Hello,

Im pretty inexperienced at Webdesign but have managed to teach myself to do the coding but now is my 1st try at doing Graphics/Images, my God its difficult!

I created a shape using Macromedia Fireworks, i made a Rounded Rectangle which i wanted to be part of my new Travel site.

I wanted the background of the image to be transparent, when i was doing the design it looked transparent on Macromedia Fireworks but when it was added to the website design www.gotoMajorca.com then the background does not show up as transparent but instead shows as a pale blue colour.

I have tried reading on Macromedia help pages but cannot manage to get background to be transparent, Please can anyone give me some advice??

Any advice would be great, im ready to pull my hair out by now!

How did you save the image? If you saved it as a .jpg, it wont work. I would recommend saving it as a .gif. If you look over in the top right hand corner, there should be a box that has all of the export settings. Change that to a .gif. I would also bump up the quality to 256 colors. Then, when you export the image, it will save it with those settings and should work.

Exporting in GIF or PNG will only make transparencies work... you likely used jpgs

I managed to get transparency problem sorted, you guys who gave me advice were right:
When i saved the image as a Gif then transparency worked no problem, only thing was i found doing this in Fireworks didnt have any affect but doing so with Photoshop sorted it out.

It was most probably me making a beginners error, graohics/images are harder to master than i imagined :'(

Thanks for the advice, Cheers
