Hi,
I am interested in a Domain. I am trying to find the current owner by checking Whois. (I use http://whois.domaintools.com)

But the result shows the domain is owned by Pool.com:
Domain Name:xxxx.INFO (* X for any character here)
Created On:16-Dec-2007 09:39:36 UTC
Expiration Date:16-Dec-2008 09:39:36 UTC
Sponsoring Registrar:NameScout Corp (R148-LRMS)
Status:TRANSFER PROHIBITED
Registrant ID:C3865680-LRMS
Registrant Name:Pool.com In Trust
Registrant Organization:Pool.com In Trust
Registrant Street1:43 Auriga Drive
Registrant Street2:
Registrant Street3:
Registrant City:Nepean
Registrant State/Province:ON
Registrant Postal Code:K2E7Y8
Registrant Country:CA
Registrant Phone:+1.6137685100
Registrant Phone Ext.:
Registrant FAX:
Registrant FAX Ext.:
Registrant Email:service[AT]pool.com

Then I searched all dropping list (Includes Pool.com's) but this name is not in any dropping list. Buy why the whois are Pool's?

Could some one tell me what is the status for this Domain? Is that the name dropped on 16-Dec-2007 and grabbed by Pool.com, then the buyer failed to send payment so the Whois is not changed?

And if the buyer failed to send payment after certain days. what would Pool do for this domain?

Thx!

The domain was created recently and seems to be in their trust account pending payment. Most likely somebody backordered it.
You can still drop them a mail.
In case the bidder fails to pay I guess they would rerun the auction unless he was the sole bidder then Pool will know there is an interested buyer. You never know :)

Hi Namelinker,

SDSINC is right, normally we (I am the CEO at Pool.com) set a domain whois to us if necessary while a sale is pending. As soon as payment is confirmed we register the domain in the name of the confirmed buyer. We do not routinely keep domains for our own use. What sometimes happens is the customer that ordered the domain turns out to be fraud and we get stuck with it for the one year registration period. If it was an auction, then we usually approach the next bidder.

If you can send me the name of the domain you are interested in I can do some further investigation. My regular email is [email protected]
