Hello,
I have found a typo .com domain.
Details are:
- one word domain
- original domain has under 20k alexa rank & very popular in internet world
- the spell mistake for the domain is like
readign typo for reading
joggign typo for jogging

No exact match for typo keyword in google keyword tool, but around 200,000 exact match for the original keyword.

Should I buy this domain for a parking purpose ?

IMO No :) and not because I want to say people who do this are wrong or bad but if someone wished to sue you they would have a very good case proving you are making money through squatting because you do nothing with the name but park.

Thank you Michelle.
But its a dictionary word too. if someone runs reading dot com and I own & park readign dot com, on what basis they can sue me ?

I would do a search to see if they had a TM but on what you have said above I would guess they had. The fact that you park the name could indicate that you have no other intentions for the name other then to gain traffic which was meant to go to the name you have a typo of. Again I am not judging you I would just advise you to be aware of the risks of parking typos of names of companies that have a TM. Some are more protective then others.

Just because its a dictionary word doesn't really mean anything, it can still be a TM, so just be careful with these these names (Apple is a dictionary word too????)

Thank you for the replies.

Sorry I forget to mention that the keyword is a service, like a keyword 'marketing' that anyone can use it, so the keyword can't be a TM & there are millions of domains already inherited that keyword and running business.

I've experimented in the past with typos much like the one you describe.

Based on your description, it sounds like the only winners under your scenario would be the lords of the dot. The lords of the dot are evil doers that do not need any more of your money. Do not be drawn in by their fancy race cars and poll dancers turned drivers. In my viewpoint, you should not register this domain.

Good luck and may the text on your mobile device soon read, "I love you. When are you coming home baby?". IMO.

I always check unregged typos on compete...if there is a ranking, I consider buying it...if not, I don't.. I find compete.com to be more accurate than alexa..

Example: I regged acebook.co because compete had a predicted number of 1100 uniques per month...after just 2 days, the domain has 74 uniques, which would be around 1000 or so uniques per month..

Glad to see you back, MicroGuy!

:)

I agree with MicroGuy here.

Typos of any kind are problematic and will probably not be profitable and could be future trouble.

Best to you and your endeavors.

The risk is just regfee and you could even taste it, and recoup most of the fee is you decide not to keep it. Do that only if you're positive you will avoid TM issues.
But it may not be a good typo. Expect no traffic. You're most likely to be disappointed.

Ask yourself why that person dropped it.

If it was earning reg fees or better and free and clear of tm issues, not likely it would have been dropped.

Typos with higher exact keyword search volume are available to hand register due to dim traffic prospects. For example:

engalnd.com [engalnd] = 1000 versus hostign.com [hostign] = 91

The root (properly spelled) keyword stats may be impressive but the actual typo stats are paramount when considering typo parking.

You shouldn't be disappointed, Bhavinj, look at it as saving your money. With 91 exact searches, I doubt if you would make reg fee for it.

Thank you all for the suggestions.
I have parked some domains and am earning some decent money with them. But here I was really confused about buying this domain.
Thank you once again.
