I have been picking up more and more typo domains lately. I spell like crap, and millions do as well. Some misspell due to typing speed, some just can't spell and other's, who knows. lol

So my question is, what do you use to gauge a typo domain? Other than Traffic, because if you are buying in the aftermarket (auctions) and do not have traffic stats, Overture is out of date etc.

I perfer domains that are misspelled with 1 (one) letter off, with that letter off, being a key that is right next to the correct key.

Second question, how much does it hurt a typo domain, if the regular domain is not developed?

A couple domains that I consider to be Typo's.

Mulf.com which I just sold, but it's a generic typo of Milf with the i and u being right next to each other.

Voys.com which is a typo of Boys.com with the v and b being right next to each other on the keyboard.

Girldriend.com which is a typo of Girlfriend.com with the D and F being next to each other. Just picked this one up.

PartPerfect.com which is a typo of PartyPerfect.com which is a local store to me, but the site is a Party Rental site. Missing letter typo (y).

Interested to hear your thoughts.....

I don't spend heavily on typo's (I only own one) . . .and good one's are hard to find (but there are always new opportunities).

I agree with everything you've stated . . but I use google to check that popularity of a mispelling.

For example let's take the word 'cheese'. 'cheede' returns 2180 results in google while cheesd only returns 1,230.

This tells me that there is a better chance that people will type cheede rather than cheesd (Of course there are probably better examples for that word but I think you get the idea).

Good point.

I had picked up Yere.com this weekend and it had typo potential as well, for Here and Year. Yere has 13.3 Million google returns, but I'm sure it has other meanings as well, which makes it hard to pick out if it's a typo or now.

Thanks for your imput.... Anybody else?
