I registered a .tv at dynadot last week. The name went into my account and had my whois for 5 days. The hours listed next to the domain in my account, which I assume is the grace period, expired in the afternoon. Therefore I gathered that the domain was secured. At some point after that, the name was deleted from my account and registered by someone else.

Dynadot sent me email saying that my account was credited the xx I paid and apparently sent a previous email saying I owed more money because it was a premium. The problem I have is that I did not see that email until after the fact. The bigger problem I have is that in checking my account for days after the purchase/hours had expired, the domain appeared to be secured.

Dynadot basically told me that I'm screwed! Can I take any action to get the domain back and is there another grace period besides the listed hours by which they can cancel the domain?

Sorry about your issue, I used to register domains with dynadot, but their service quality has really sucked in the last few months and have started using different registrars!.

I'm not sure what action you can take apart from contacting dynadot and seeing if they will work with you....here's an excerpt from them on .TV premium listings, was yours a premium .TV?.

Hello,

On March 19, 2010 EST, VeriSign released new Premium .TV Domain Names which were previously unavailable for registration. Unfortunately, we had an error in our system which listed some of these Premium .TV Domain Names as available for the normal .TV registration price.

This happened because we were given an incomplete list of the Premium .TV Domain Names. We assumed that this list contained all of the available Premium .TV Domain Names. So, any Premium .TV Domain Names that weren't on the list were displayed at the normal .TV registration price.

To compound the issue even more, we had a problem with the central registry and ran out of funds. This meant we could not process any COM/NET/TV/CC domain registrations, domain transfers, and domain renewals.

We ended up deleting most of the Premium .TV Domain Names that were registered with the normal .TV registration price and crediting users' accounts. On hindsight, this was probably not the best way to handle the situation.

We are truly sorry for this mistake. If you want a refund for a deleted Premium .TV Domain Name instead of an account credit, please let us know. We will refund your payment, no questions asked.

Best Regards,
Dynadot Staff

I contacted dynadot yesterday and they said nothing can be done since the domain has been registered by someone else. They do have 5 days to delete the name which is indicated beside each new reg (118 hours). Problem i have is that my hours expired on this domain last I checked. They deleted on the 5th day but it had to have been shortly after I checked my account. Oh well I'm screwed but I'm transferring all my other domains out of there today!
