I was just catching up on "Name"Pros and found a conversation that debated "Names" vs. "Domains."

There are many brands that use the term "Names" while being in the "Domain" industry. You have, Namepros, Namescon, etc, etc.....

So which is better "Names" or Domains?"

Does "Names" truly describe our niche?

Should we be using one more than the other?

Should I be switching to Internet.Names?:-P

I use keywordBrands for my portfolio too. Even though I don’t deal with brand services :xf.cool:

Smart choice! ) what is the keyword there?

Smart question 😉

I get more than enough domainers that browse my website daily and spoil my tracking and analytics, so I’m hesitant to post it here (despite being very proud of what I designed and developed).

See DM.

Most end users/businesses want a ‘name’ for their business/venture and one that is brandable and easy to remember. And getting that name as a ’domain’ is/would-be the ultimate coup for them. So, imo, businesses first look for a brand name for their biz/product/service and then hopefully getting it as domain to market it.

Oh go ahead, show off and share your proud work, your analytics will only be off for a day or...maybe less. ;)

Haha. I don’t care about page views if this is what you meant.

I track BIN button clicks, form submissions, etc via JS events that I pass to Google Analytics. And curious domainers click everywhere just to see how everything is set up. No bueno.

I can attest that @uzver has got a great combo there ) Short, sweet, meaningful. Probably one of top 100 best possible combos to go in front of "brands".

HeHe

Yup, he has a great domain and site

Something about one of @uzver 's sales seems to stir some memories with me.

I won't share it unless he says ok, but I hear about that sale somewhere.

Done! ⚡

)))) I was kidding because my site is right/brand ))

But, yes, I do believe selling brands instead of names is more powerful. The reality now is that you don't really own a brand until you own exact match default domain for your geo and niche, .com in most cases, but could be cctld for some countries or .org for non-profits.

Heck even I own my own brand

Bet nobody can guess it :)

Forgot to mention one important detail.

I use HotJar’s Heatmaps and Screen recordings. So I see videos of how domainers browse my website... They use up my monthly allowance for recordings + I waste my time watching their actions. :xf.confused:

Maybe you could create a special url for domainers and ask us to go there first. When we do you would give us a do not track cookie before redirecting to the main page. And then if you see that cookie exclude any tracking code.

Just a thought as I am always curious to see how others have their portfolio sites setup.

HeyHey..... how did you guess that one?

Brand can be a good term, I saw the value in it a long time ago.

Well, you are the Maple guy here, so just tested brand and brands ) Got it from the first try )

Honestly, like it better than the dots.
