I registered for a domain around two hours hour ago and because of their time taken for your manual payment verification, the domain was taken by someone else a couple of minutes ago. THEY DID NOT EVEN LOCK THE DOMAIN AFTER I PURCHASED !!

I don't care about the money but I want that particular domain.

NamePros peeps what to do on this? Report to ICANN explaining the situation, make them go absolute VIRAL on social media so no one uses them anymore?

Please guide me.

Please don't say I should have done my diligence before or next time use well known host. If I had done that I would not be in this situation and names.co.uk ,,, how can any registrar with such domain name be such incompetent?

I have the receipt from my bank if needed. Please help me on this matter.

Unfortunately, I doubt there is a lot you can do. They will probably be covered by some clause in their T&C's

https://www.names.co.uk/info/terms/general-terms

I would get a refund and just not use them again, take it a lesson learnt and move on - https://www.names.co.uk/info/terms/refund-policy

Use a registrar with a good rep as well, these guys dont have good reviews.

What was the name by the way?

Good luck
No I can't move on.... That freaking domain was worth well over 4 figures. I know the potential... If it was like any other .com domain I would not be so stressed bro.

Please help me. I will make these sons of bitches pay.... Domain names are not jokes !!!!!

Names.co.uk belongs to a large group of registrars:
https://team.blue/brands/
This group has 5M + domain names and 2M + customers.

I understand your frustration, but being angry wont do anything. You do what you need to do though, but you will not get the domain back.

If they were verifying your payment and someone else registered the domain, then there nothing you can do, they have to verify payment and they would have processed the payment after verification was completed and in that time, someone, with a verified payment method, has bought the name.

If the name was was worth what you say, do you wonder why it was available? If the name has gone, why not reveal the name?

- Regarding verifying payment, saw some youtube videos and they ALWAYS seem to verify everyone's payments manually for hours. We live in 4g era soon to be in 5g but they are like GPRS. Namecheap, godaddy do not have such delays. Actually I have never seen any registrar doing verification for so long.

- It was available because it was dropped some time ago. I dont want to reveal the domain because that word is trendy and can be combined with others but that was an unique one. Not only investors but people with such businesses would easily spend 4 figures.

It doesnt matter what other registrars do ...f its their policy, then its their policy. If it doesnt specify how long it will take, then unfortunately, it can take as long as the registrar wants. Not sure what you expect them to do now, take it from the person that registered it? Thats not going to happen so nothing you can do but move on, and you will be doing that eventually, so rather do it now and save the time and energy and focus on something positive.

Check this forum and you will see people register "available" names at Godaddy, only to be told later (after payment has gone through) the name was already registered years ago, this happens becasue the domai ndatabase is not always "live" Its happened to me a couple of times too, painful but nothing you can do.

It doesnt really matter how many peopel you thought would want the name now.

Seriously, try not to dwell on this too much.

Good luck in the future

It was a high trending kw and a simple search in namebio showed people wants this domain and it was a short domain so...

My silly mistake to trust this shitty company. Yes I did not see their policy and T&C and of all the domains I bought for my own businesses from various BIG NAME REPUTABLE registrars. none had such manual verification thing because they know names can easily be snapped in the blink of an eye so it's an idiotic incompetent policy from an incompetent company.

And I see you are an experienced domainer since 2007 but still I tell you the keyword bro your reaction would be same as mine. I guarantee. I lost a good one.

One thing, which registrars are to avoid always? This one and any else?

I can tell you, if it was a trending keyword happening now, that keyword .COM name would have been gone a long time ago. If it was available, it wouldnt only be worth x,xxx as you mentioned, it would be worth a lot more. 2 words maybe, but a 1 word .COM is very unlikely.

Might want to brush up on some older NamePros threads. You'll probably find the Network Solutions coming up quite a bit as one to steer clear of. In the future, the minute you believe you have a four or more figure domain, try to use a more well-known or established registrar (e.g., Epik, Namesilo, Dynadot, Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.)--you might have a better chance of getting said domain.

Good luck, going forward.

Front runners anywhere would pick it up in 2 hours what stopped you from paying instantly is more the question? Does the whois on this domain show date to be taken today or was it just showing available a name already actually taken and who is might show it was avaialble.

Try and contact the new owner and make an offer to buy it.

That's probably your only chance of getting the domain im afraid.

What's front runners?

Before registering I searched in WHOIS and it was available. Then registered at names.co.uk, they charged my card and said they will email within 24 hours after payment verification. According to some youtube videos, they do this for ALL customers.

So I was like what? What if someone takes the domain within this time and so did another WHOIS after 5 mins and domain was still available. I started to get stress from there. After around 1 hr or so I checked my email, still nothing from them and BAM, the domain was taken by another registrant. I did not use WHOIS guard on the domain. I saw someone from US taken the domain. The administrative contact at WHOIS was different than names.co.uk

Update from customer support.

I sent a support mail:

I registered domain and for the EXTRA time to manually verify payment the domain was just taken by someone else. You did NOT even lock the domain after I purchased which is so stupid and I still wonder how can such a registrar be a qualified ICANN registrar.

I will share my experience everywhere in the domaining world and make you guys go viral about this and make sure no one uses your service.

They replied:
We cannot get the domain for you if it is already registered, you would be wasting time and money hiring a lawyer to assist you with this.

Please check our website for an alternative domain.

Kind regards
Please rate our responses so that we may improve our service. Visit https://www.names.co.uk/support-feedback?supportref=SU13611504 to let us know how we've done.

Namesco Limited

I have bought domains from porkbun, namecheap, godaddy in the past (not for domaining but for other business) and no one has this.

Domain names can get snatched in the blink of an eye so its an highly incompetent policy from them. They should be FORCED to quit this business.

I said this to them and they do not realize. I asked for refund and they said it would take 5 days. But this ain't about money. Its about losing an amazing name. Names.co.uk anyone would take this registrar to be good based on this names.co.uk domain. The domain sounds powerful lol but there are ACTUAL NOOBS operating this name.

No one should use them!!

I request the mods/admin to NEVER delete this thread. People should not just trust companies based on name.

Avoid using names.co.uk, they even won't let you get authorization code for domain transfers unless you pay $15 to them.

WOW!

Bro seriously that domain was a killer. I wouldn't be this frustrated if it was just some ordinary .coms.

$15 for authorization. Perfect.

THEY ARE A BIG OBSTACLES TO OTHER PEOPLES BUSINESSES!
THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO QUIT AND BANNED.

THIS THREAD SHOULD BE STICKIED!

Is it possible that the domain was registered by somebody else first ?
If you had to wait for payment verification. Maybe another person had to do the same, before you.

So maybe it was showing as available but wasn't, and/or you were not first in line.

All that said, its not a satisfactory situation to say the least.

I've not come across the $15 charge to transfer out.
However, there is a ยฃ10 charge for .uk and .co.uk domain names, but I understand, that is actually a fee levied by Nominet.

No one was line in line. It was such a catchy domain. I checked multiple times on whois, then searched and registered. Even like I said in my OP, I searched about the domain after 5 mins of payment. When it still showed available on WHOIS I got stressed. Then again checked after 5 mins and still available. So, you can guess how SHITTY they are.

Generally when you use GoDaddy or namecheap or porkbun and similar registrar, after payment they instantly lock the domain with your details.
