NamePros Traffic Falling since this goofy advert is running

I stopped in after being out 3-4 days because of this goofy ad running.. I was wondering how many others felt the same way..and did a check ..

I don't come here to worry about the color of the background. I come here to learn from the best there is, and I have. The color of the type i.e the IMPORTANT stuff, is still black, and that's all I care about.

I am, quite frankly, over the fact that people can't get over a background. I wouldn't give a fat rats arse if it was bright magenta with bright green polka dots (picture it, it's ugly) as long as it is still a free resource to all that use it.

Acoording to that same source, the traffic was falling each month for the entire year of 2007 at the other big domain forum, so it's not just NP.

I wasn't going to comment on this because I don't give a rats ass what theme or color NP has going on. I don't care if the background is pink, green, blue or yellow. What is important is the NP spirit, as long as the spirit is around, I'll be around!

My noob statement -- Namepros is only growing, day after day. I've been here for a while :D

Actually, we need a change. Those colours are flashy, red, hot! well, some other colors are depressing for life.

I don't think it's the red making people angry and bitter. Having an all green theme seems to do the same thing.

Among other things, red invokes anger, aggression, passion, excitement and violence. It raises your blood pressure and increases your respiratory rate. It also make you hungry.

I got over it rather quickly. My interest in the content obscured the layout which isn't too bad(bearable) in my opinion. I just wish I could control my eating when I'm here. I was trying to drop a few pounds before we hit the beach.

Look at sites like PerezHilton.com. He sells his background weekly and people learn to ignore it.

I come here for the discussion of names, not the background color. First time I saw this, I went to his site to check it out. I didn't care for what I found there, but I did EXACTLY what he paid for. I got curious and checked it out. That is what marketing is all about, put up an ad and hope for people to drift in.

Quite frankly, if namepros sold their background once a week, it wouldn't bother me at all. It gives me a chance to see what other people are doing and how they are advertising. If I could afford it, I would do the same thing for some of my sites. Sure it would piss people off, but if it increased my profits enough to cover costs, I would live with it.

Namepros is much more then a website, it is a business. If they don't make money on ads, then they would have to charge for membership and if you think the red background is bad, think of how people would cry if they had to pay to get in....

my guess is tho, this wasnt a traffic building attempt as it was a need to fulfill growing costs.

i know this is a free forum, and i do appreciate it. i did turn off my graphics tho

but, if costs are becoming a burden to the point of doing something like this- and i have seen other members say this- i have no problem paying a membership fee.
