NamePros Traffic Falling since this goofy advert is running

I stopped in after being out 3-4 days because of this goofy ad running.. I was wondering how many others felt the same way..and did a check ..

Now people know I'm not for the design, and yes, I do think there is a degree of "financial sell out".

However, character assasination, is not on. I do understand that are relative costs associated to running a large community. Although, I also think there are ways to do it "in a tastless way" and in a "tastefull way" (SP?)

Alas, I think this falls into the first RJ.

If you allow for people that are on 1440/900 screen res, which I think a large percentage are, it looks terrible!

I appreciate what Rick is bringing o NP Financially, but surely there has to be a little thought into this ?

This has actually been a fascinating marketing experiment! Bidawinner, I do agree that some people have been turned off and limited their participation because of the red background. No doubt about it.

On the flip side, it seems to have invigorated others and encouraged more activity from them.

I don't have traffic stats, but I do have forum activity stats which I believe is a more accurate indicator of what's going on. Check out the stats comparing the 5 full days with the new skin to the average activity on the 26 days preceding it.

I think we can be safe in saying that people are not loggin in or joining "due to the new layout".

I do agree, marketing is marketing, talk is talk, be it good or bad. It auses debate and thus increases acivity. However, I do wanna get this across. This is TO MUCH.

I know, it's just my opinion mate. But, it's looking a little like "whorishness" which is something NP IS NOT!.

Tastefull is cool!. If this person is willing to spend the money they have on doing this, then consulting someone to do it RIGHT costs very little. Another 2/300$. Well worth it to avoid the "flames/talk back".

Honestly, i dont really like the theme but im pretty much logged in 24 hours a day anyways. Plus i get the refreshment of the namepros.mobi part of the time when im not around a comp. I didnt want to say anything but namepros.mobi is not themed like this LOL.

As long as you feel you are near what you need to be thats all that matters..

The cheesy advert does EXACTLY what it is suppose to do..I dont have any issue with that..

My concern is .. is this really what you want for namepros.. Ask some of your more respectable members ..ask new visitors what their first impression was as they entered NP .. get some real feedback instead of the everyday "noise" from the chatterboxes

Hmm... NamePros Health Plan... I've heard some horror stories about that.

In all seriousness, I don't find the advertisement all that annoying, however I can see how some people would. I do have to agree though that it does seem a little unprofessional to "sell out" (I have a better word, but I'll keep it PG) the forum for cash.

I also believe that most of this controversy could have been avoided, had NP staff discussed this change or at least informed us beforehand.

But if that's what it takes to keep NP running, then bring on the advertisements! :tu:

The best I can tell, other than the "too bright, it's neon, I need my shades" comments, the content(Remember, it's KING) in the forum is still the best you can get for the money and in many cases it's better than some of the stuff you have to pay for. I do not know about everyone else, but I have NEVER visited for the color, layout or ads.
