I were thought to respect people even at a young age and also advised by my elders not to judge a book by it's cover so I don't judge a forum by it's background. :imho: it's another innovative approach of sponsoring a forum, ASMF I would like to "copy" it for my other forum where I'm working.

Very creative and innovative,

Congrats to Rj and RL for doing this approach. :kickass:

last night's balut btw is really heavenly and the soup oh my (stomach's grumbling again) I'll have another one this morning..

This is Your sugnature... Be cool. Be polite. Be professional.โ„ข

So acting like an ass is your idea of being professional ?

Take just a few minutes pull your head out of your ass and actually LOOK at the forum

Jeff is Professional :kickass:

You are very upset, and i can't figure out why.

We are only talking about a promotional thing here, with the current colors, Screw stats and other BS. As i have said, The LOYAL will stay here. No matter if the colors were Pink and Purple.

Well said Tom!

The best I can tell, other than the "too bright, it's neon, I need my shades" comments, the content(Remember, it's KING) in the forum is still the best you can get for the money and in many cases it's better than some of the stuff you have to pay for. I do not know about everyone else, but I have NEVER visited for the color, layout or ads.

My 2 cents

Extremely well said robertjr, My thoughts exactly.

My concern is .. is this really what you want for namepros.. Ask some of your more respectable members ..ask new visitors what their first impression was as they entered NP .. get some real feedback instead of the everyday "noise" from the chatterboxes

Thats all..You know what you are doing ..just throwing what I hope is an a constructive observation.. in my own endearing way ;)

Believe it or not, I do care about this community. I've watched it grow up and mature into something I am very proud of. If I was interested in "selling out", there's been more than a few opportunities I could have taken a quick buck.

I've been a subscriber to Rick Latona's newsletter since the day he launched it and was already personally recommending it to others, so when he approached me to work together on this promotion I was very open to it. This was an opportunity to partner with a prominent player in our industry, and, despite the (intentionally) cheesy theme, it was a chance to doing something a little different from the ordinary "slap up a banner ad" type of sponsorship you normally see.

My decision making isn't always perfect, but I do have the best interest of NamePros at heart. The feedback from members is always appreciated, good and bad.

Thanks,

RJ

Yes Jeff is a legend, I'm learning from majority of his posts.

btw, I would like sometime to see np going polkadots with red violet, that would be awesome, colors are just skin deep, what matters are the people, the business I get from namepros, the lessons I'm learning, the domain business I'm learning as well, and the staff are very professional. Comparing all those with just the background is nothing actually.

We understand that you always have the best interests of NP in mind. I think a few members have been (understandably) hurt and have become frustrated because this large change was sprung on us with no prior discussion or notice. ;)

It's obviously temporary -- no need to get upset, folks. :)

I think the sponsorship idea is very innovative and unique. It was an experiment, a learning experience for both parties. It's a change from our nearly colorless theme for the first time in years.

(We're a free site, too.) ;)

I can't say that I'd put much weight in the opinions of anyone that gets so worked up and "storms out the door" because of it. Wow.

RJ, I personally like the temporary change. I'm kinda hoping you have a little something up your sleeve when its over to make a new skin or color change of some sort everyone will like and a bit different from the before ;)

Of course I wish it were permanent -- RJ bumped us up to the next level of the NamePros Health plan! ;)

The psychological effects of a red website background should be studied by the scientific community at a later date.

I don't think it's the red making people angry and bitter. Having an all green theme seems to do the same thing.

Eye Health Plan?

another I've learned lesson in life for I'm an old school.
Whoever has the money makes the rule, in this case, whoever has the money makes the background.

For me it's a free trip to las vegas without spending any money and coming out of my bat cave.

_\|/_ << - I always thought this is a banana peel but I'm wrong, it's a turkey.

This advertising campaign is... Bold... and.... In-Your-Face. No doubt about it.

This forum is FREE. No doubt about that, either.

Conclusion: I would rather see the occasional bold advertising campaign, than pay to post.

The decision was spot on - advertising is supposed to create a reaction - think Howard Stern on the "bad boy" side and Toyota's talking animals in the mid/late 90's on the positive side - both have been winners. Think Godaddy with its flashy advertising, making a concise point of getting Superbowl commercials banned - they are #1 in their segment.
You're doing the exact right thing with the assist of Rick's advert and the designers that created it for him. In other words, this advert and its design is a job very well done.
Certainly, it can always be done better, but it most definitely can be done a lot worse than this.

M.

To be perfectly honest - for that much money, I'd happily have the "Brought to you by Rick Latona" logo tattooed right across my ass, and then I'd run naked around busy shopping centers to give it some exposure.

I don't blame RJ one bit for wanting to make some extra cash, fair play to the man.

Did you check the new members before/after to see if you have more new female members now because of the colors?

At full screen, it's a little like the glow from hell, or standing on the edge of an active volcano.

However, if you narrow your browser window to the width of the discussion thread, it's a little more like revisiting Halloween and pumpkin carving, with a slight reminder of Fall colors and pumpkin pie. _\|/_

It's also not so bad if you reset your monitor to 8 bit Grey scale. :D

I am using a black and white screen so I don't see it is a big deal to me.

I like the layout. Much better and life like than the older version
