NamePros takes over top spot for domain forums.

In a major reversal to last year’s survey, NamePros has come out on top in the 2007 Domain Name Wire survey for best domain name forum. NamePros received 55% of the vote compared to only 12% last year. DNF, on the other hand, dropped from 43% to 35%.

NamePros’ popularity shows in its user statistics. As I write there are 1,078 people discussing domain names at NamePros in thousands of threads. DNF is hopping as well with 1,295 visitors.

DNF is trying to clean up its image. The forum banned posting trademark domains for sale and has started to use a points system to remove members who seem to visit only to pick fights. DNF has strong leadership from domain investor Adam Dicker.

Many domainers rave about the help they are able to give and receive at NamePros. In general, it’s good to have a couple major domain forums. It leads to innovation and allows people of different skill levels to participate.

DNF has alot of guests that make up the currently active users, but usually half the members are signed on compared to Namepros.

Basically: Namepros is better at converting visitors into members.

I agree cfguru360.

I have registered with DNF and NP basically at the same and just now realize that NP is always my first forum to visit. :hehe:

Thanks NP for such a brilliant forum!

Well deserved.

The article talks about people being able to get good help here, that's certainly been my experience.

This is the only forum I try to visit every day.

Thats great to hear. I have signed on to both. But I was drawn more to NP for some reason. The community if user friendly most definetly.

i think why namepros is ahead of DNF is because its a 'free' forum, and DNF you need to pay which puts people off.

yes that was almost my case, when i started some time ago ( years ) i was looking for a forum to start learning some basics and stuff.
i found geekvillage then sitepoint , DNF, digitalpoint, namepros and some others i don't even remember ( lol ).
today i go to geekvillage, namepros and digitalpoint.
namepros and geekvillage are my first sites i open in the browser.
i love the sense of comunity namepros as achieved and i hope it continues to improve along the years.

congrats :)

I couldn't agree more! I've been to the other side and it is not as good. Some other forums have different focuses like DP on development. For domain names, there is NONE BETTER THAN NAMEPROS! And RJ is a cool cat too B-)

DNF sucks. NP is much better.

In my opinion, the only thing that DNF is generally better for is selling domains, due to an overall wealthier audience perhaps (since membership is paid)?

Namepros is definitely best for discussion and learning, though. We've got a great community atmosphere here -- much better than anywhere else I've ever been! B-)
