Namecheap Support Nonexistent?

It's unfortunate that my first post here has to be a negative one, but I'm tired of waiting for Namecheap to respond to my e-mails.

On December 29th I registered a domain for my personal site. I provided 100% correct information and used my own card. I successfully parked my domain and all was well, until several hours later I received an email from Namecheap stating that the transaction for my domain had been canceled. I then came to find that my account with them was also locked.

I sent a message to their support asking for information about why this happened, and got the typical "possible fraud, give us your number and we'll call you" response that others in my situation seem to get. So I replied back with my home phone number and waited... and waited... and waited.

Of course, no call ever came, and I've emailed them twice more asking them to contact me. So far it's been completely futile. I'm losing patience. I registered this domain 6 days ago and so far I've been without it for almost that many. And despite the transaction being "canceled," I sure haven't been refunded any money.

Granted, this happened over the New Year's holiday weekend, but how long does it take to sort out something like this? It's obvious very many people like Namecheap, and they come highly recommended, which is why I went with them, but this isn't a good way to start things off with a new client.

I haven't checked my account today, but when I did the other day, I was still minus the $8 I spent at Namecheap.

Unfortunately I've heard far too many bad things about GoDaddy to consider them. If Namecheap continues to ignore me, I'll go with Moniker. They have a toll-free support number, which is more than I can say for Namecheap. Namecheap's support has been abysmal for me, obviously.

Bad things about godaddy? Lol. i dont know what forums your reading. But godaddy is one of the best, if not the best registrar out there.

Lots of different people have warned me about GoDaddy. Although I'm beginning to wonder if they could possibly be any worse than Namecheap.

What are they warning you about? I have registered at least 100 names, pushed 50 or so in and out, never had a stint of a problem. I would defintely give them a shot.

I just might. They're more expensive than Namecheap (I spent $8 at Namecheap, the same setup would cost me $13 at GoDaddy), but at least I might actually get to use my domain.

What attracted me to Namecheap was the free Whois privacy. GoDaddy charges $4 for that.

Their are many coupon codes that you can use to lower the prices on names. Go to www.reg-fee.com or www.dncoupons.com

Thanks for those links.

I'll give Namecheap till Friday to contact me. If they feel like ignoring me, I'll spend my money elsewhere. This is just ridiculous.

I have to agree. I think if and when you try godaddy, you wont be disappointed.

If you sent an email, there's a slight chance it never reached them. Emails are
not as reliable as they used to be, sad to say.

Another option is to create another account, log inside, and send a support
ticket with details. It also happens their CEO is a member here, so try to PM
"enetwork" about it as well.

Personally their not providing phone support directly on their site is one reason
I was initially wary of them. I hope they'll do something about that soon, they
have a lot of promise with many satisified customers.

Alright, after sending another message to their support, I got a call back and everything got sorted out. Apparently they did try to email me back, but I never got the mail. Not sure if it was a problem on their side or if my GMail account had a hiccup, but I've never had a problem getting mail before.

Case closed, I guess.

Glad to hear indeed as i got a reponse back on my ticket within 4 hours, so i have to say i am very pleased with their support. However, i have moved all my "normal" names (.com,.net, etc) to moniker as i don't want to keep paying $8.8 vs $6.95 :)
